MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents 

• An officer was dispatched to the Dollar General just after 3:05 p.m. on March 27 for a burglary alarm. The alarm was determined to be false.

• An officer was dispatched to the area of Hobbs and Seventh streets just after 12:20 a.m. on March 28 regarding suspicious activity. Upon arrival, the officer saw no cause for alarm.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 100 block of Third Street just after 10:20 a.m. on March 28. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Seventh Street just after 3 p.m. on March 28 regarding suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, the officer saw no cause for alarm.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Seventh Street just after 11:10 a.m. on March 29 regarding suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, the officer saw no cause for alarm.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Adams Avenue at 4:50 a.m. on March 31 regarding suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, the officer saw no cause for alarm.

• An officer was dispatched to the Arbor Health Hospital just after 1:25 p.m. on March 31 regarding a burglary alarm. The alarm was determined to be false.

• A hit-and-run in the 400 block of Main Avenue was reported at approximately 9 a.m. on April 1. An informational report was taken.

• A civil dispute was reported in the 200 block of Cherry Lane just before 6:10 p.m. on April 2. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Second Street just before 11 p.m. on April 3 for a burglary alarm. The alarm was determined to be false.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 100 block of High Avenue at approximately 9 a.m. on April 3. The officer located the juvenile suspected to be responsible for the damage. Charges have been referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office.

Mossyrock Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street at 5:55 p.m. on March 27 for a theft complaint. There was no clear evidence of a theft and an informational report was taken.

• A civil issue was reported in the 300 block of State Street at 4:20 p.m. on April 1. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street at 5:55 p.m. on April 2 for a civil complaint. An informational report was taken.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Malicious Mischief 

  A case of third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 1100 block of North National Avenue at approximately 9:55 a.m. on April 4 is under investigation. 

Disputes 

• A possible physical dispute between a man and a woman was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 10:15 a.m. on April 4. No arrests were made.

• A disturbance or dispute reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 1:30 p.m. on April 4 is under investigation. 

Crashes 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Airport Road and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:20 p.m. on April 4. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 10:05 a.m. on April 5. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported on the northbound Interstate 5 Exit 77 off-ramp at 5:15 p.m. on April 5. 

Vehicle Prowl 

• Approximately $50 worth of gas was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:10 p.m. on April 4. 

• Just before 9:50 a.m. on April 5, a tool kit was reported stolen out of a mail van in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue sometime overnight. 

• A purse was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on April 5. The vehicle’s back window was broken during the incident. 

Other Theft 

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:10 p.m. on April 4 is under investigation. 

• A subject was arrested in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged third-degree theft. 

• A possible attempted theft was reported at a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4 p.m. on April 4. The suspects were trespassed from the business. 

• Mail was reported stolen out of mailboxes in the 100 block of Southeast Coal Creek Road at 12:10 a.m. on April 5. 

• Just before 7:40 a.m. on April 4, a catalytic converter theft that occurred in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue the day prior was reported. 



Burglary 

• At approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 5, a burglary that occurred in the 10 block of Southwest Third Street sometime overnight was reported. Someone reportedly broke down a door, spray-painted inside the building and broke “a bunch of lights and other items,” according to the police department. 

Assault 

• A man was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. on April 4 after he allegedly punched another man in the face. 

Indecent Exposure

• A man was arrested in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. on April 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for indecent exposure after he was seen allegedly “masturbating on children’s toys in the store.” The man has been trespassed from the store. 

• A man was arrested in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 9:10 a.m. on April 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on burglary, theft, malicious mischief, disorderly conduct, obstruction, trespassing and indecent exposure charges stemming from an incident that occurred at a business in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The man was wearing a “very short skirt” and “accidentally flashed his bottom” then allegedly made threats toward someone who tried to talk to him, according to police officers. He was trespassed from the business. 

Car Alarm 

• Just after 9:10 p.m. on April 4, a caller reported she suspected someone was breaking into her vehicle in the 200 block of Southwest 15th Street because “her car alarm went off three times and she heard banging outside her windows.” The situation turned out to be a combination of the weather and a mechanical issue with the vehicle. 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Stolen Groceries 

• Groceries were reported stolen from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7:05 p.m. on April 4. 

• Groceries were reported stolen off of a porch in the 900 block of North Tower Avenue just before 4:55 p.m. on April 5. 

Shoplifting 

• Shoes were reported stolen from a store in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 4:45 p.m. on April 4. 

• A man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on April 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting and resisting arrest. 

• A man was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on April 5. 

Other Theft 

• A maroon Honda with black primer was reported stolen from the 700 block of Euclid Way at 8:10 a.m. on April 4. 

• Items were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 100 block of East Maple Street just before 8:55 a.m. on April 4. 

• A license plate was reported stolen in the 800 block of Park Way just before 3:40 p.m. on April 4. 

• Fraudulent charges on a credit card were reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 5:05 p.m. on April 5. 

Assault 

• Just before 11:10 a.m. on April 4, a victim reported that he was held in a motel room in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue and forced to use drugs. The case is under investigation. 

Malicious Mischief 

• Vandalism to a windshield was reported in the 1500 block of Pike Street just after 2:10 p.m. on April 4. 

• An unidentified man reportedly kicked the back door of a residence in the 1000 block of Alder Street just before 3:50 a.m. on April 6, damaging the door. 

Forgery 

• An officer was given false documents during a traffic stop in the 1200 block of West First Street just before 1 p.m. on April 5. The case is under investigation. 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on April 5 is under investigation. 

Crash 

• A non-injury, three-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of South Pearl and West Cherry streets just after 2:45 p.m. on April 5. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS 

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 166 inmates, including 149 in the general population and 17 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 118 were reported male and 31 were reported female. All WERC inmates were reported male.
