Sirens: More Graffiti; Shoes Stolen Off Victim's Feet; Loud Crash in the Attic; Possible Animal Neglect

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Retail Theft

• Clothing was reported stolen from a department store in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 2:35 p.m. on May 30.

• A Lacey man was cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10:10 p.m. on May 30.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 2000 block of Haviland Avenue at 4:10 p.m. on May 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he allegedly shoplifted from a store he was trespassed from.

 

Other Theft

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Hemlock Street just after 8:30 a.m. on May 30. It was later recovered in a neighboring county.

• A black Schwinn bicycle was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. on May 30.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Eckerson Road at 4 p.m. on May 30.

• A laptop was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue at 5:50 p.m. on May 30. The case is under investigation.

• Mail was reported stolen out of a mailbox in the 3500 block of Galvin Road just after 10 a.m. on May 31.

• A $100 counterfeit bill was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on May 31.

 

Trespassing

• A Centralia man was cited for trespassing in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at 4 p.m. on May 30.

 

DUI

• Kelvin Ramirez-Pena, 21, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of Ellsbury Street at 9:35 p.m. on May 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

Graffiti

• Officers are working to identify two people who were reportedly caught on surveillance video spray painting a building in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue just before 9:25 a.m. on May 31.

• Graffiti to a power box at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West Bridge Street was reported just after 5:50 a.m. on June 1. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Retail Theft

• Two subjects reportedly stole demo phones off the wall of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and fled in a black Kia SUV just before 10:10 a.m. on May 27.

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 4:35 p.m. on May 28.

 

Vehicle Theft

• Suspicious circumstances related to a vehicle theft were reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:05 p.m. on May 28.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:25 p.m. on May 28.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of Southwest James Street at approximately 5:40 a.m. on May 29.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 900 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue just before 5:25 p.m. on May 30.

Stolen Shoes

• Just after 2:30 p.m. on May 27, a caller at the intersection of Southeast Evergreen Drive and Southeast Park Hill Drive reported a man stole their shoes off of their feet. According to the caller, the suspect pulled up in a vehicle and told the caller to take their shoes, Nike Air Force Ones, off their feet. The suspect reportedly told the caller “he wanted to try on the shoes” before physically grabbing the caller, taking their shoes and fleeing the scene. 

 

Other Theft

• Just after 2:05 p.m. on May 28, a third-degree theft that occurred in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on May 26 was reported.

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:35 p.m. on May 28.

• Just before 7:25 a.m. on May 28, a bike was reported stolen from the 100 block of Southwest Sixth Street sometime overnight.

• Just after 10:50 a.m. on May 29, a caller in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported they dropped their wallet outside their residence and saw a man pick it up and walk to an apartment complex across the street.

• A counterfeit $20 bill was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 7:45 a.m. on May 31.

• Just after 7:55 a.m. on May 31, bicycle seats were reported stolen from the 200 block of Southwest First Street.

• A second-degree theft reported in the 400 block of Northeast Alaskan Way just after 11:35 a.m. on May 31 is under investigation.

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just before 2:45 p.m. on May 31.

 

Burglary

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 3:15 a.m. on June 1 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A 28-year-old pedestrian was reportedly injured in a collision with a vehicle in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on May 27. The Chehalis Police Department did not release information on the victim’s condition.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:25 p.m. on May 27.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in a parking lot in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just before 4:20 p.m. on May 27.



• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:05 p.m. on May 28.

• A non-injury single-vehicle accident reported in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 10:15 a.m. on May 29 is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 300 block of Southwest James Street just before 11:05 a.m. on May 30.

• Just after 1:50 p.m. on May 31, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard a year ago was reported. The caller stated they needed a police report for their insurance provider.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Third-degree malicious mischief to a vehicle was reported in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just after 12:25 p.m. on May 27. 

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just after 6:10 a.m. on May 28.

• Just before 6:25 p.m. on May 29, a caller in the 2100 block of North National Avenue reported a man was “freaking out” and chasing him around the parking lot with a baseball bat. No arrests were made.

 

Loud Crash in the Attic

• At approximately 12:20 p.m. on May 29, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Fourth Street reported hearing a “‘large’ crash from his attic” and said he believed someone was living there. Police later confirmed there were no signs of entry and suspected the sound was possibly caused by an animal.

 

Possible Animal Neglect

• A case of possible animal neglect was reported in the 600 block of Southwest William Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. on May 29 after a caller reported an ongoing problem involving multiple dogs. Police who drove by the residence did not hear the dogs.

 

Vicious Dog

• A case involving a vicious dog that was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue at 11:10 p.m. on May 30 is under investigation.

 

Harassment

• A subject was referred to the prosecutor’s office for possible fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and felony harassment, domestic violence charges following an incident that was reported in the 500 block of Southwest 16th Street just before 7 p.m. on May 30.

 

Marijuana Violation 

• A woman was cited for allegedly smoking marijuana while driving at approximately 10:05 a.m. on May 31 at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest Second Street.

 

Trespassing

• A disorderly subject was trespassed for life from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:45 p.m. on May 31.

 

MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Adams Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. on May 25 regarding a malicious mischief complaint. The officer did not observe any evidence of damage. An informational report was taken.

• A dispute between neighbors was reported in the 300 block of Westlake Avenue just after 1:20 a.m. on May 28. An officer spoke with both parties, who appeared intoxicated. The officer advised both parties to separate and allow things to cool down. Both parties agreed and an informational report was taken.

• A single-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of Second Street at 11:45 p.m. on May 28. The driver stated she missed the turn out of the Chevron parking lot and accidentally drove off the road. The officer contacted a tow company to assist and an informational report was taken.

 

Mossyrock Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street  just before 8:10 p.m. on May 22 for a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of West State Street just after 3:10 p.m. on May 23 to assist adult protective services at a residence. The individual was intoxicated and was unable to respond to officers. Officers remained onsite to aid until medical help arrived.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Engle Drive at 12:20 p.m. on May 24 regarding a harassment complaint between neighbors. The officer provided both parties with information to obtain a no contact order and advised them to stay apart.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 8:05 p.m. on May 24 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 11:10 p.m. on May 24 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street at 12:25 p.m. on May 25 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. The officer attempted to contact the resident by phone, but no calls were answered. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 9:05 p.m. on May 25 for a suicidal subject. The officer responded by phone and spoke with the subject until aid arrived on scene.

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of James Street  at 10:50 p.m. on May 25 regarding a suspicious person who was reportedly yelling at cars passing by. The officer was unable to locate the subject when he arrived. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of East State Street just after 10 a.m. on May 26 regarding a man who appeared to be intoxicated and was walking into traffic. The officer observed the man exhibiting all the signs of intoxication, including difficulty walking. The officer transported the individual to his residence with a neighbor to care for him.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Aldrich Road just after 4:10 p.m. on May 28 regarding a complaint of a loud party. The officer observed the attendees “mudding” their vehicles and quads and flinging mud all over the neighboring property. The officer contacted the responsible party and advised them the mud flinging was a malicious mischief crime and needed to stop. The officer later returned regarding another complaint at the same property. The officer requested additional units to respond to assist with crowd control. The investigation is ongoing.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 139 inmates, including 118 in the general population and 21 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 95 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 18 were reported male and three were reported female.
