Sirens: Marijuana found at a middle school; Man arrested for meth, failure to register as sex offender; Jail statistics

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• An electric bicycle was reported stolen from the 600 block of North Pearl Street just after 9:40 a.m. on March 20.

• A citizen reported money was stolen by a family member in the 3300 block of Fords Prairie Avenue just before 4 p.m. on March 20. The case is under investigation.

 

Drug violations

• A 37-year-old Centralia woman reportedly had suspected narcotics in her possession when she was arrested on a Centralia Municipal Court warrant in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on March 20.

• A 21-year-old Centralia woman reportedly had suspected meth and meth paraphernalia on her person when she was arrested on Centralia Municipal Court warrants at the intersection of Crescent and Meridian Avenues at 5:45 p.m. on March 20. She was issued citations but was not booked into the jail “due to medical conditions,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 41-year-old Puyallup man reportedly had suspected narcotics on his person when he was arrested on a Centralia Municipal Court warrant at the intersection of Central Boulevard and Crescent Avenue at 3:10 p.m. on March 21.

• A 29-year-old Centralia man reportedly had meth on his person when he was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender and for a Centralia Municipal Court warrant in the 1000 block of Eckerson Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. on March 22.

 

Possession of a stolen vehicle

  A 46-year-old Tenino man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant after officers attempted to pull him over in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive just after 2:45 p.m. on March 20. The suspect reportedly fled from the vehicle on foot but was located in a nearby yard.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on southbound Interstate 5 in Centralia at 2:45 p.m. on March 21.

 

Hit-and-run

• At 4:05 p.m. on March 21, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 100 block of Jackson Street two days prior was reported.

 

Criminal trespass

• Just after 7:55 p.m. on March 21, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Harrison Avenue for a domestic verbal dispute. The reporting party advised officers that “her nephew was intoxicated and had threatened to punch her while she was driving him from Vancouver to Aberdeen,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The reporting party pulled over in Centralia and told her nephew to get out of the car, but he refused. The male, who was intoxicated, allegedly “threatened to beat up the officers after they contacted him.” The male then urinated near the business drive-thru directly after officer’s ended contact with him. The male, 32 of Vancouver, was issued an infraction for urinating in public was cited for second-degree criminal trespass after he refused to leave the property.

• A homeless Packwood resident was issued a verbal warning for camping in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue just after midnight on March 22. He was also given information on local resources.

 

Burglary

• A burglary to a business in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street reported just after 3:25 a.m. on March 22 is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accidents

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just before 10:55 a.m. on March 20.

• One man reported possible minor injuries after he was involved in a two-vehicle, head-on collision in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 11:15 a.m. on March 20. Dispatchers noted there was “debris all over the roadway” and that citizens were directing traffic before officers arrived. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 3:40 p.m. on March 20.

• A car crashed into a guardrail at the southbound Interstate 5 Exit 76 offramp just before 2:15 p.m. on March 21. No injuries were reported.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Arkansas Way at approximately 3:15 p.m. on March 21.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A tent was reportedly blocking the sidewalk at the intersection of Southwest Chehalis Avenue and Southwest John Street just after 1:25 p.m. on March 20.

• A “suspicious package,” later described as a “green backpack-type bag,” was reported at a bus stop in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 4:55 p.m. on March 20. An officer responded and did not locate the bag.

• “Suspicious circumstances” reported at the intersection of Northwest Cascade Avenue and West Main Street just before 11:40 a.m. on March 21 are under investigation.



• At noon on March 21, a male subject wearing a trench coat was reportedly “waving” something inside his coat “like he has a gun” at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest Cascade Avenue.

• A possible attempted vehicle theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2 p.m. on March 21 after the vehicle’s owner reported her ignition was “messed up.” An officer “was able to solve the problem” and advised the reporting party that “her ignition was stuck due to user error.”

 

911 calls

• A 911 call was made in the 10 block of Northeast Boistfort Street at 2:55 p.m. on March 20. The reporting party soon called back to report “his 5-year-old daughter was playing on his phone and it was an accident.” He was “advised not to let his daughter play with the phone,” but the reporting party “advised he was going to continue to let his daughter play with the phone.”

• A 911 call was made near the intersection of Southwest Lewis Street and Southwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. on March 20. In the background of the call, a male was heard yelling “I’m going to break your f***** face” at a female, according to dispatchers.

 

Shooting complaint

• A possible shooting complaint was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. on March 20. 

 

Theft

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 600 block of North National Avenue just before 3:25 p.m. on March 20.

• Just after 9:15 a.m. on March 21, scrap metal was reported stolen from the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue sometime overnight.

• A woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:20 p.m. on March 21.

• A phone was reported as possibly stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:25 p.m. on March 21.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:45 p.m. on March 21.

 

Death investigation

• The “undetermined death” of a 78-year-old male reported in the 1300 block of Northwest River Street at 4:10 p.m. on March 20 is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A criminal trespass reported in the 200 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 8:55 p.m. on March 20 is under investigation.

• Subjects who were found sleeping in the employee entry of a business in the 1200 block of Northwest State Avenue were trespassed from the business at approximately 6:05 a.m. on March 22.

 

Drug and alcohol violations

• Marijuana was found at Chehalis Middle School in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 10:25 a.m. on March 21.

• A homeless man was reportedly “walking around town with a Four Loko in hand” in the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just before 1:05 p.m. on March 21.

 

Malicious mischief

• The rear window of a vehicle in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard was reported broken just before 12:40 a.m. on March 22.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 31 illness-related calls, 11 injury-related calls, 12 fire-related calls, two vehicle accidents, seven non-emergency service calls, one overdose, one ambulance request and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 165 inmates, including 151 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 121 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 22 inmates, including six booked by the Centralia Police Department, 10 booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement  and two booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
