CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Theft
• A vehicle and a utility trailer were reported stolen from the 1000 block of South Tower Avenue just before 8:20 a.m. on March 3. The vehicle was later recovered in Thurston County. The utility trailer was still missing as of March 4. The case is under investigation.
• A 34-year-old Lacey man was arrested for third-degree theft, obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest just before 8:30 a.m. on March 3 in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue after “shoplifting and attempting to overcome law enforcement’s lawful actions,” according to the Centralia Police Department.
• Credit card information was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 1:35 p.m. on March 3. The information was reportedly used to make a purchase. The case is under investigation.
• An Amazon package containing about $40 worth of purchases was reported stolen from a porch in the 100 block of Jackson Street just after 5:40 p.m. on March 3.
Assault
• Assault charges have been referred to Centralia Municipal Court following a physical domestic dispute reported in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just after 1:35 p.m. on March 3.
• Trinidad Lopez Jr. ,32, of California, was arrested for second-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road just before 12:20 a.m. on March 5. He had a preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court scheduled for 4 p.m. on March 5.
Disorderly conduct
• A 27-year-old Lacey man was arrested for contempt of court for failing to follow a judge’s instructions during a Centralia Municipal Court hearing in the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 1:55 p.m. on March 4.
Drug violation
• A 30-year-old Centralia man was arrested for obstructing a law enforcement officer and possession of suspected meth and drug paraphernalia in the 500 block of Madison Street just after 5:25 p.m. on March 4. He was originally detained as part of a vehicle prowl investigation.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Green Hill School
• A custodial assault reported at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 1:05 p.m. on March 3 is under investigation.
Disputes
• A physical dispute between two residents of a memory care unit in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle was reported just after 1:35 p.m. on March 3. No injuries were reported.
• A possible verbal dispute was reported in the 700 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on March 3.
• A physical dispute between a man and a woman was reported inside a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6:30 p.m. on March 3. The man was trespassed from the business.
Vicious dog
• A doberman in a black Subaru parked in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard was reportedly barking at people and lunging out the window just after 5:10 p.m. on March 3. An officer contacted the vehicle’s owner, who rolled up the window.
Burglary
• Just before 8:30 p.m. on March 3, a burglary of a garage in the 200 block of Southwest John Street that occurred last month was reported.
Harassment
• A citizen reported being followed into a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and receiving threatening messages just after 9:55 p.m. on March 3.
• At approximately 9 a.m. on March 4, a citizen in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard reported ongoing harassment involving someone laughing outside their window every weekday.
Suspicious circumstances
• A man wearing a white shirt with blood on it was reported in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 12:15 p.m. on March 4. He was reportedly involved in an altercation and was unwilling to speak with law enforcement.
• At approximately 4:50 a.m. on March 5, a man in the 1200 block of Southwest Ripple Court reportedly called to ask for undercover cops to “protect his property and take care of him when he is out and about” and “offered to compensate this officer/officers with gifts.” He was advised that the police department “does not provide this type of service.”
Disorderly conduct
• A disorderly woman was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Jackson Highway just after 12:35 p.m. on March 4.
Theft
• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:15 p.m. on March 4.
Criminal trespass
• A subject who tried to force the window of a drive-thru open in the 20 block of Northeast Median Street just before 9:10 p.m. on March 4 was trespassed from the business. The man reportedly tried to pick up a mobile order but didn’t have the name required for pickup.
LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Chargings
• Joshua Daniel Johnson, 40, was charged Feb. 18 with one count of second-degree theft for allegedly stealing a light bar valued at about $1,800 from a truck at a business in the 1100 block of Kresky Avenue in Centralia on Nov. 19. He was issued a summons notice for a March 4 preliminary hearing, which he was present for. He was granted release on his own personal recognizance. Arraignment is scheduled for March 13.
• Michael Andrew Ryan Jr., 33, of Winlock, was charged Feb. 19 with one count each of residential burglary and third-degree theft for allegedly breaking into a relative’s travel trailer on Dec. 1 and stealing an auger worth $180 and two bags of cement. He was issued a summons notice for a March 4 preliminary hearing, which he was present for. He was granted release on his own personal recognizance. Arraignment is scheduled for March 13.
• Tabetha Bealynn Dacey, 31, of Morton, was charged Feb. 21 with one count of theft of rental or leased property over $5,000 for allegedly renting a UHaul from a store in Chehalis on Dec. 10 and refusing to return it. She was issued a summons notice for a March 4 preliminary hearing, which she was not present for. A $10,000 bench warrant has been issued.
• Benjamin Lee Thomas, 62, of Randle, was charged March 4 with one count of attempting to elude a pursuing police officer after he allegedly fled from a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy on March 4. The deputy had tried to pull over Thomas for a defective muffler infraction, according to court documents. Thomas allegedly drove recklessly through several S curves, using both lanes of traffic, as he fled onto eastbound Anderson Road, where he reportedly turned onto a driveway, slid and became stuck. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail at approximately 12:47 a.m., according to jail records. Bail is set at $25,000. Arraignment is scheduled for March 13.
Sentencing
• Joel Patrick Craig, 61, of Toledo, entered an Alford plea to third-degree assault, domestic violence, and violation of a protection order charges on March 4. An Alford plea allows a defendant to take advantage of a plea deal without admitting guilt. He was granted a first-time offender waiver and was sentenced to 90 days on electronic home monitoring, to begin by March 18. He is also required to undergo substance use disorder and domestic violence evaluations and complete all recommended treatment. A 5-year no-contact order in favor of the victim is in place.
• Alfredo Garduno Reyes, 45, of Centralia, pleaded guilty March 3 to second-degree malicious mischief and fourth-degree assault charges and was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 334 days suspended. He is permitted to serve the remaining 30-day sentence on electronic home monitoring. He is also required to undergo an alcohol use evaluation and complete all recommended treatment. No-contact orders protecting the victims are in place. He is also prohibited from having any contact with Tower Tavern in Centralia for five years.
FIRE AND EMS CALLS
• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 51 illness-related calls, 10 injury-related calls, five fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, one vehicle accident, one pregnancy-related call, one ambulance request, two Lifeline medical alerts and one other call.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 157 inmates, including 145 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 24 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, eight booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe, two booked by the Lummi Nation and two booked by the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs.
