Sirens: Man runs into traffic, breaks bus shelter window; juvenile bites staffer at detention facility; sexual misconduct reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A theft at a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue reported just after 10:35 a.m. on March 31 is under investigation.

• An EBT card was reported stolen from the 900 block of B Street just before 3:55 p.m. on April 1.

 

Recovered property

• A stolen motorcycle was recovered in the 200 block of South Tower Avenue just before 1:15 p.m. on March 31. The motorcycle was reportedly stolen in 2024 and sold on Facebook Marketplace.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle window was reported in the 2600 block of Eureka Avenue at approximately 2 p.m. on March 31.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 33-year-old Bucoda woman was arrested for trespassing at a business in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on March 31.

 

Assault

• A 34-year-old Yakima man was arrested for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly hit someone twice in the 3500 block of Steelhammer Drive at approximately 3:50 p.m. on March 31.

• A 22-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 500 block of North Rock Street just after 3 a.m. on April 1.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• A disorderly man reportedly ran into traffic, broke a bus shelter window and knocked down a sign near the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Hampe way just before 11:25 p.m. on March 31.

 

Criminal trespass

• A criminal trespass reported in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 1:25 p.m. on March 31 is under investigation.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:30 a.m. on April 1 is under investigation.

 

Disputes

• A verbal domestic dispute was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at 7:40 p.m. on March 31.

• A domestic dispute involving a 14-year-old girl yelling and throwing things was reported in the 1600 block of Southwest Gails Avenue just before 6:35 a.m. on April 2.



 

Death

• A natural death was reported in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue at 7:55 a.m. on April 1.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle crash was reported in the 800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:25 p.m. on April 1.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly man with a sword was reportedly “freaking out” in the 300 block of West Main Street at approximately 2 p.m. on April 1. Officers spoke with the man and confirmed he did not have a sword.

• A disorderly customer at a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reportedly being aggressive toward staff just after 7:30 p.m. on April 1.

 

Harassment

• Harassment was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Center Street just after 2:45 p.m. on April 1.

 

Assault

• A juvenile reportedly bit a staff member at the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on April 1.

 

Sexual misconduct

• Possible sexual misconduct was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 11:35 p.m. on April 1.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 26 illness-related calls, 15 injury-related calls, five fire-related calls, three non-emergency service calls, one vehicle accident, one medical helicopter request, one ambulance request, one suicide-related call and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 147 inmates, including 134 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 106 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 20 inmates, including eight booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, two booked by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, two booked by the La Push Quileute Nation, one booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the City of Elma and one booked by the Tenino Police Department.
