CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Eliot Widmer, 24, of Moses Lake, was arrested and booked in the Chehalis Tribal Jail at about 12:14 p.m. June 23 in the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
• Josiah N. Salguero, 30, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail at about 4:03 p.m. June 23 for harassment after making specific threats of violence against another in the 300 block of North Gold Street.
• Daniel A. Lopez, 22, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail around 1:39 a.m. June 24 on the charges of hit-and-run and first-degree negligent driving.
• Damion V. Wilson, 25, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at around 2:45 a.m. June 25 at the corner of South Yew Street and West Chestnut Street for driving without a valid license, driving under the influence, and on a Department of Corrections felony warrant for escaping community custody.
Theft
• A report of theft in the form of fraud came in at about 10:11 p.m. June 23 in the 1000 block of South Gold Street. According to the Centralia Police Department, the case is under investigation.
• A theft was reported from a local business in the 100 block of West High Street at 1:24 p.m. June 24.
• Officers assisted a citizen in recovering her stolen cellphone around 8:44 p.m. June 23, in the 1000 block of South Yew Street. The case is still under investigation, according to the police department.
• A burglary and theft at a local business was discovered at around 6:02 a.m. on June 25 in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue. The case is reportedly under investigation.
Malicious Mischief
• Vandalism of a motor vehicle was reported at around 2:37 p.m. June 23 in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue. No suspect information is available.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Christopher W. Benoschek, 34, of Yelm, was arrested for second-degree burglary in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue after allegedly trying to take deli food from the establishment at 10:23 a.m. June 20.
• Garth I. Mazzeo, 46, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at about 3:31 p.m. June 23 for one count of second-degree burglary after attempting to shoplift in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Additional charges were referred to the prosecutor’s office for third-degree theft and use of paraphernalia.
Burglary
• A resident reported a burglary in the 400 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue sometime within the last two days of their call at 10:25 a.m., June 19.
Theft
• A pressure washer was reported stolen from the 500 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue at 6:07 p.m. June 20. The caller stated the theft was not in progress and occurred sometime within the week.
• Daniel J. Barnes, 28, of Puyallup, was cited for third-degree theft at around 7:57 p.m. June 22, in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. He was allegedly running stolen items toward Walmart.
Vehicle collision
• A two-vehicle accident was reported in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 5:02 p.m. June 20. No arrests were made, but one participant in the collision was reportedly getting verbal and wanting to leave.
• A two-vehicle collision occurred at the corner of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Arkansas Way, at 1:42 p.m. June 21. No one was injured.
Suspicious person
• A resident reported a male was “having a karate match with himself in the roadway” in the 400 block of Southwest Parkland Drive, at 2:37 p.m. June 21.
Trespassing
• Jeffery W. Sheets, 33, and Matteo A. Barnes, 23, were issued citations for second-degree trespassing after a caller reported five individuals trespassing on their property at about 11:25 a.m. June 22 in the 800 block of West Main Street.
Counterfeiting
• A caller reported counterfeit money at about 7 p.m. June 22 in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard.
Verbal Dispute
• A verbal dispute occurred at about 7:57 p.m. June 24 in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, as a resident reported hearing “yelling in the background.”
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 172 inmates, including 159 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 133 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
