Sirens: Man pretends to be Jack Sparrow; Woman in tin foil hat yells at customers; Drivers dispute fault for crash

Criminal trespassing

• A 39-year-old Centralia man was cited for trespassing at a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:10 a.m. on March 8.

• A homeless man who was “screaming at employees of a business” in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 12:15 p.m. on March 8 was trespassed from the business for life at the management’s request.

• A man who was “talking to his reflection and pretending to be Captain Jack Sparrow” was trespassed from a property in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on March 8.

• A homeless woman was trespassed for life from a business in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue just after 10:45 p.m. on March 8 after she entered an employee area several times.

• A “female wearing tin foil on her head” was reportedly “yelling at customers inside a local business” in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:25 a.m. on March 9. She reportedly left that business, then locked herself in the bathroom of another business. She was trespassed from both businesses.

• A subject was reportedly trespassed in the 700 block of G Street just before 2:30 p.m. on March 9. The subject was asked to “come over and help clean the location.”

• A homeless person from Ohio who was found urinating behind a local Centralia business’s sign in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 6:05 p.m. on March 9 was trespassed from the business.

• A woman who tried to get inside a residence in the 700 block of North Washington Avenue at 9:40 a.m. on March 10 was trespassed from the residence.

• A 37-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7:35 a.m. on March 11 after she was found trespassing in a building. She reportedly started a fire inside the building.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Sixth and North Pearl streets just after 9:55 a.m. on March 8.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1300 block of Logan Street just after 8:50 p.m. on March 9.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. on March 10. “It was not clear which vehicle was in violation of the driving laws at the time due to one driver saying they had a green light and the other driver (also) saying they had a green light,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1900 block of Ahlers Avenue just after 12:25 p.m. on March 8.

 

Civil problems

• Just before 10:10 a.m. on March 9, a caller reported a woman was harassing his grandpa in the 2300 block of Eureka Avenue. “Officers determined it was a civil issue as the female had been invited to stay at the residence and she established residency at the location,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Officers were dispatched to supervise the exchange of children between parents in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue just before 6:20 p.m. on March 9. “Officers had to take steps to ensure the children were properly secured in vehicles with car seats,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Traffic issues

• An “erratic driver” was reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:25 p.m. on March 9. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Just before 3:05 p.m. on March 9, multiple callers reported an evicted tenant had assaulted another male in the residence in the 700 block of North Pearl Street. “Officers determined that no assault or any other crime had been committed. The individual was never evicted and had permission to be at the residence,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Welfare check

• Just after 5 p.m. on March 9, a caller requested a welfare check for their mom, who “had reportedly fallen and refused to call 911 for help” the day prior. An officer contacted the mom, “who was OK and did not need help,” in the 1200 block of Alder Street.

 

Department assist

• An officer assisted fire personnel with “an elderly male in crisis” in the 3200 block of Galvin Road just after 10:25 p.m. on March 9. The male was transported to the hospital.

• Centralia officers assisted the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office with a single-vehicle collision on Old Highway 99 Southwest in Rochester just before 7:30 a.m. on March 10. The driver was seen running from the scene and wasn’t located. A Centralia officer was able to identify the driver and provided the information to Thurston County deputies.

 

Assault

• A 30-year-old Toledo man was arrested in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just before 1:40 p.m. on March 10 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A 35-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, both of Centralia, were arrested in the 500 block of North Oak Street just after 1:15 a.m. on March 11 for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence after they were involved in a dispute. The woman was released with a court date, and the man was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail.

 

Theft

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 700 block of F Street just after 2:20 p.m. on March 10.



• A wallet and credit cards were reported stolen from a parked vehicle in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 2:50 p.m. on March 10. The credit cards were later used in Tumwater. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• Just before 7:50 a.m. on March 8, a resident in the 1000 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue reported she found her door wide open when she came home the night prior. There were marks on the door, but nothing inside the residence was taken.

 

Theft

• Just after 8:55 a.m. on March 8, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported someone was “taking money from (their) deceased father.”

• At 4:35 p.m. on March 8, a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a subject stole “a bag of shaving items including razors” about 25 minutes prior.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just after 9:55 a.m. on March 8.

 

Prison riot

• A prison riot that occurred at Green Hill School in February was reported at 10 a.m. on March 8.

 

Contraband

• Just before 5:10 p.m. on March 8, staff at the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center reported “finding (a) shank” during a room search.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man was “acting very odd and appeared to be hiding behind things” inside a business in the 300 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue just after 12:50 p.m. on March 8. He was cited for trespassing.

• A resident in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported “someone (was) sleeping under her front stairs” at approximately 3:45 a.m. on March 9. She asked for the subject to be moved along.

 

Welfare check

• A father requested a welfare check on his kids in the 100 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 7:30 p.m. on March 8.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 800 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just before 9:15 p.m. on March 8.

 

Dispute

• Just after 12:35 a.m. on March 10, a caller reported her boyfriend was “refusing to give (her the) keys to (her) car” in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street. The boyfriend reportedly left the scene on foot with the car keys.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and West Main Street just after noon on March 10.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday afternoon and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications dispatched personnel to approximately 55 illness-related calls, 18 injury-related calls, one Lifeline medical alert, 15 fire-related calls, one vehicle accident, four non-emergency service calls, one medical helicopter request, two hazardous conditions reports and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 168 inmates, including 155 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 128 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 25 inmates, including 10 booked by the Centralia Police Department, 10 booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation, two booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court and one booked by the City of Elma.
