Sirens: Man jailed for masturbating in public; Train strikes vehicle; Feces placed in woman's vehicle

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• Just after 7:55 a.m. on Feb. 14, employees at a post office in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard asked officers to remove a group of people from the lobby. The subjects left before officers arrived.

• A 36-year-old homeless man from Longview was trespassed from a church in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 14 for “being aggressive towards staff.”

 

Theft

• A 42-year-old Chehalis man was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 14.

• A theft from a mental health facility in the 2400 block of Reynolds Road that was reported just after 9:35 a.m. on Feb. 14 is under investigation.

• A rental car company in the 500 block of East Summa Street reported the theft of a license plate at 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 14.

 

Eluding

• The Flock Safety camera system alerted officers that a stolen vehicle from Seattle was at the intersection of Centralia College Boulevard and South Silver Street just after 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 14. Officers located the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver “sped away.”

 

Indecent exposure

• Nathan G. Kloecker, 38, of Centralia, was arrested at the intersection of East Pine Street and North Tower Avenue just before 4:55 p.m. on Feb. 14 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for indecent exposure after a family “observed him masturbating in public.” Kloecker was charged Feb. 15 in Lewis County Superior Court with one count of indecent exposure with a previous conviction. Bail is set at $25,000. Conditions of release include a provision preventing Kloecker from having contact with minors or going anywhere minors congregate. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A BNSF train struck a vehicle that had broken down on the tracks at the intersection of Floral Street and South Tower Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on Feb. 14. No injuries were reported.

 

DUI

• A 39-year-old Vancouver man was arrested in the 400 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 14 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Malicious mischief

Vandalism to car tires was reported in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road just before 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 15. 

 

Criminal trespass

• Three subjects were arrested on outstanding warrants after they were warned for trespassing at a train station in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue at 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 15. 

• A 66-year-old Newman Lake man was cited for trespassing “after numerous warnings” in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 15. 

• A Newman Lake man was arrested in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for first-degree criminal trespass. 

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Fair Street and Grand Avenue just after 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 15. 


Witness tampering 

• A 44-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 2800 block of Russell Road just after 6:55 p.m. on Feb. 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for witness tampering. During a domestic violence investigation, the woman allegedly “contactacted a ‘witness’ and told them to say they were on the phone and heard her get hit,” according to the Centralia Police Department. “The ‘witness’ eventually confessed to officers and advised that (the suspect) sent them a picture of an injury and told them to tell police they were on the phone at the time of the incident,” the department stated in a news release.

 



CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Dispute

• A man reportedly hit the windshield of his sister’s car with a shovel in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street during a dispute just after 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 14.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A male subject was reportedly holding an unlit torch on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4 p.m. on Feb. 14. The reporting party said they “think he may be planning to light the flowerbeds on fire.”

• A male subject was reportedly “yelling and screaming” in the 500 block of Northwest Front Street just after 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.

• Just after 10:40 p.m. on Feb. 15, a caller reported a light was “flickering on/off” in the 200 block of Jackson Highway. The caller said she “thinks this may be an alarm or secret signal based on her knowledge of distress signals from TV.”

 

Vehicle accident

• Just after 5:05 p.m. on Feb. 14, a caller reported he was leaving a parking lot in the 1000 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue and struck a fire hydrant. No damage to the hydrant was reported.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1:35 p.m. on Feb. 15 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle prowl

• Just before 6:35 p.m. on Feb. 14, a caller reported “an unknown subject got into her vehicle and put feces in it while she was at work” in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way.

• A possible attempted vehicle prowl was reported in the 800 block of Southwest 19th Street just after 5:40 a.m. on Feb. 15.

 

Child abuse/neglect

• A case of “child abuse/neglect” reported in the 300 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after noon on Feb. 15 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:10 p.m. on Feb. 15.

 

Malicious mischief

• Graffiti was reported on a shed at the intersection of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 15.

 

Criminal trespass

• A criminal trespass reported in the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 5:25 p.m. on Feb. 15 is under investigation.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 145 inmates, including 132 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
