Sirens: Man jailed after damaging household items; handgun theft suspect sentenced; assault with sexual motivation

Sentencings

• Martavis R. Haggins, 26, of Kennewick, was sentenced Aug. 12 to three years in prison and three years of community custody as part of a prison-based drug offender sentencing alternative after pleading guilty to charges of possessing a stolen firearm and second-degree theft. • Andrew A. Rivera, 33, of Auburn, was sentenced Aug. 12 to 33 months in prison and 12 months of community custody after making a Barr plea to one count of third-degree assault and an Alford plea to one count of tampering with a witness. Rivera pleaded guilty to five counts of violating a protection order. A no-contact order has been issued on behalf of the victim. • Brian T. Clark, 42, was sentenced Aug. 12 to 43 months in prison and 17 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of failure to register as a sex offender. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/ydx5mhw5. 

• Raymond R. Morgan, 43, Morton, was sentenced Aug. 12 to 364 days in jail with 363 days suspended and one day of credit for time served after making an Alford plea to one count of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation (domestic violence). Additional charges were dropped. According to court documents, a judge ordered that Morgan participate in domestic violence evaluation and treatment. Preliminary appearances

• Nathan P. Davis, 53, Vader, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 12 for one count of second-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence) after he allegedly broke a number of household items — including an electric guitar, two plant vases, an archery bow, a hammer and two computer monitors — at his girlfriend’s home. The items reportedly totalled about $870 in value. Davis allegedly told law enforcement he had been upset with his girlfriend for “getting into drugs,” according to court documents. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment for Aug. 13.

• Keenes M. Embum, 26, Glenoma, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 13 for one count of second-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence) after he allegedly smashed his ex-fiancee’s iPad during an argument. According to court documents, Embum allegedly admitted to the offense when questioned by law enforcement. A judge set bail at $5,000 cash or bond and issued a domestic violence no-contact order on behalf of the alleged victim. Embum’s conditions of release include prohibitions on alcohol and drug consumption. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Aug. 20.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• James Shogreen, 58, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding Lewis County Superior Court bench warrant.

Malicious mischief

• Officers responded to the reported vandalism of a travel trailer in the 2800 block of Russell Road at about 4:36 p.m. Aug. 13. The case is under investigation.

Protection order violation



• Officers received a report of a court order violation through email communications in the 1000 block of Kresky Avenue at about 11:23 a.m. Aug. 12. The case is under investigation.

Theft

• Officers responded to the reported theft of multiple credit cards from a local business in the 2400 block of Borst Avenue at about 5:28 p.m. Aug. 13. The case is under investigation.

Vehicle prowl

• Officers received a report of multiple vehicle prowls and property theft in the 100 block of Jalyn Street at about 3:07 p.m. Aug. 12. There was no suspect information at the time.

• A vehicle prowl that occurred during the night was reported in the 100 block of Halliday Road at about 6:55 a.m. Aug. 14. The case is under investigation.

Vehicle theft

• A vehicle theft was reported in the 900 block of Marion Street at about 1:44 a.m. Aug. 13. The case is under investigation.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Chehalis Police Department has not yet released its most recent call reports. Look for updated information in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle and at chronline.com when the reports are made available.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Aug. 13, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 141 inmates, including 128 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 101 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Aug. 14, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 20 inmates. Of those, seven were from Centralia and six were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were two from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, the Skokomish Tribe, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Chehalis Tribe.
