Sirens: Man Covered in Blood Makes Threats; Gas Pumps 'Used as Restroom': Suspicious Man on Hunt for 'Sandman'

Thefts

• A subject was cited for stealing flowers from outside a residence in the 500 block of Northwest Prindle Street just after 8:55 a.m. on Sept. 2.

• Power tools were reported stolen from the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Sept. 2.

• Just after 12:10 p.m. on Sept. 4, items were reported stolen from an open garage in the 200 block of Southeast Adams Avenue sometime the day prior.

• A subject was arrested in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just before 11:40 a.m. on Sept. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting from a business.

• At 3:35 p.m. on Sept. 5, a caller reported her wallet and a phone were stolen while she was inside a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Approximately 20 minutes later, she called back to report her wallet had been returned.

• Two generators were reported stolen from a store in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 5.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Sept. 6 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• A woman with “bruising on her eye” reportedly went into a store in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 2 saying “she is in fear for her life” but would not disclose why. No arrests were made.

• A man was reportedly hitting a building with a hammer as he was walking north on Northwest Chehalis Avenue near the intersection with West Main Street just after 11:05 a.m. on Sept. 3. He reportedly threw a can at a building and attempted to break a sign. No arrests were made.

• A woman was reportedly “squatting in the middle of the pumps (and) using it as a restroom” while pumping gas at a gas station in the 100 block of Northwest State Street at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Sept. 4.

• A man who had “blood all over him” reportedly walked through a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 4 “saying he was going to start killing people.” He reportedly had a large kerosene lighter in his hand. The man reportedly left the business and was walking through the surrounding parking lot saying “he was going to kill everybody” and “the blood was someone else’s.” No arrests were made.

• Just before 11:35 a.m. on Sept. 6, a caller reported “threatening notes” were “all over his shop” in the 2100 block of North National Avenue.

• Just before 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 6, there was reportedly a “guy hanging from the concrete wall” in the 600 block of North National Avenue.

• A man was reportedly “throwing his bike up in the air and screaming a lot of interesting things” at the intersection of Southwest Washington Avenue and Southeast 11th Street just after 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 6.

• Just before 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 6, there was a report of subjects who “looked like they were trying to get into a window to the school” in the 200 block of South Market Boulevard. The subjects were reportedly unable to get in and left the scene. 

• A man holding a box and “looking for a ‘sandman’” was reported in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Disputes

• A physical dispute between a man and a woman was reported at the intersection of Jackson Highway and Southwest 21st Street just before 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 2.

• A witness reported an assault in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 2. According to the witness, a man had purchased a dog from a woman then texted her “with threats to kill the dog,” then assaulted the woman’s mother in a parking lot. None of the victims were still at the scene when the assault was reported. No arrests were made.

• An unidentified woman reportedly threatened someone with a knife in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 1:55 p.m. on Sept. 3. The information was reported second-hand and no arrests were made.

• A physical dispute between a man and a woman was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 3.

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard just before 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 6.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 900 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Assault

• A case of fourth-degree assault reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 2.

• A non-injury collision between a utility truck and a semi truck was reported at the intersection of Southwest State Avenue and West Main Street at 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 2.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 5.

• A non-injury vehicle accident was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:10 a.m. on Sept. 6.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 6.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 6.

• A non-injury vehicle accident in which an airbag deployed was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately noon on Sept. 6.

 



Vicious Dog

• A case involving a vicious dog that was reported in the 500 block of Northeast Washington Avenue at 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 2 is under investigation.

 

Trespassing

• A man was trespassed “for lifetime” from a property in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:55 p.m. on Sept. 3. The property owner said they “have been trying to get him to leave for three and a half weeks now.” No arrests were made.

• A man who reportedly attempted to shoplift from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 5 was trespassed from the business.

• Subjects in a “brownish-gray” camper who were “refusing to leave” a property in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue were trespassed from the property just before 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Kids Smoking

• At approximately 12:25 p.m. on Sept. 4, a caller reported two juveniles who “look like they’re about 10 or 12” were smoking on a play structure in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. The caller requested that the juveniles either “quit smoking or come down.”

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Drug Violation

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1200 block of West Main Street at 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.

 

Vehicle Thefts

• A truck was reported stolen from a property in the 300 block of Fair Street just after 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 5. Washington State Patrol located and recovered the vehicle on state Route 12 later that day.

• Just after 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 6, a black 1993 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Meadow Lane sometime overnight. The vehicle was located and recovered in Tumwater later that day.

• Just before 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 7, a blue 2004 F250 pickup with the Washington license plate B26273S was reported stolen from the 820 block of E Street sometime overnight.

 

Shoplifting

• Items were reported stolen from an outlet store in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 1:50 p.m. on Sept. 5.

• A Centralia man was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just before 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Other Thefts

• A portable toilet was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Centralia College Boulevard just after 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 5.

• A cellphone was reported stolen from the 910 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 6.

• A rental check was reported stolen from an apartment’s drop box in the 1400 block of Johnson Road just before 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 6.

• Just before 7:50 a.m. on Sept. 7, documents were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue sometime overnight.

• Two Centralia men were arrested at the intersection of East Summa Street and Roosevelt Avenue just after 12:15 a.m. on Sept. 7 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of stolen property. One of the men was additionally booked on outstanding warrants and the other was additionally booked for driving with a suspended license.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A minor, non-injury vehicle accident was reported in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 5.

• A minor, non-injury collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Russel Road at 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 6.

• A minor, non-injury collision was reported in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Assaults

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at 12:50 p.m. on Sept. 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted another park patron during an argument over a stolen speaker.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1000 block of K Street just before 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 172 inmates, including 154 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 127 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 15 were reported male and three were reported female.
