Sirens: Man Charged With Assault After Being Punched in the Face by Girl; Men Try to Break Into Vehicle With Owner Inside

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Runs

• A delivery truck was struck from the rear by a passenger vehicle in the 100 block of West Main Street just before 2:15 p.m. on April 8. The driver of the passenger vehicle fled the scene once she found out police were called. There were no injuries reported and the damage to the delivery truck was minimal.

• A non-injury hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 5:15 p.m. on April 8.

 

Crashes

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5. One vehicle had tried to change lanes and struck the left rear side of another vehicle, according to the police department.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Belmont and Harrison avenues just before 4:55 p.m. on April 8. One vehicle had failed to stop for a stoplight and crashed into another vehicle, according to the police department.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• A license plate was reported stolen from a parked vehicle in the 1800 block of North Pearl Street just before 3:20 p.m. on April 8.

• At 11:45 a.m. on April 9, items were reported stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the 1800 block of Collision Street sometime overnight.

• At 2:10 p.m. on April 10, personal property was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 400 block of West Pine Street sometime within the last week.

 

Shoplifting

• Items were reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of West High Street just after 5:50 p.m. on April 8. The suspects, a man and a woman, reportedly fled in a black Dodge SUV that was driven by an unidentified third person.

• An unidentified man reportedly stole two bottles of vodka from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 2:10 p.m. on April 9. He was last seen fleeing in the 500 block of South Silver Street.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 6:40 p.m. on April 9.

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on April 10. The suspect reportedly fled through the business’ emergency exit.

 

Other Theft

• Jewelry was reported stolen out of a hotel room in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at approximately 8:15 a.m. on April 10.

• At approximately 8:20 a.m. on April 10, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 2800 block of Russell Road sometime overnight.

• A package was reported stolen off of the front porch of a residence in the 900 block of West Second Street just before 12:05 p.m. on April 10.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A Rochester woman was cited for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence just after 9:45 p.m. on April 8 after she allegedly broke a window at her former roommate’s apartment in the 1500 block of Lewis Street.

• Vandalism to the right rear door of a vehicle was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on April 9.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1500 block of North Scheuber Road just after 10 a.m. on April 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence.

 

Assault

• A 30-year-old Centralia man was referred to the prosecutor’s office at 7:40 p.m. on April 9 for possible fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation charges after he allegedly made inappropriate comments to a 16-year-old girl and “then grabbing her buttocks.” The 16-year-old allegedly admitted to punching the man in the face immediately after he had touched her. The man suffered no apparent injuries.



 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Crashes

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:15 p.m. on April 7.

• A non-injury vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest 18th Street at approximately 1:20 p.m. on April 7.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 2100 block of Jackson Highway at 10:10 a.m. on April 10.

• A non-injury vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:25 p.m. on April 10.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 12:20 p.m. on April 7.

 

Shoplifting

• An attempted shoplift was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 12:35 p.m. on April 10. The suspect reportedly tried to leave the store with a couple hundred dollars worth of fishing gear, a pair of boots and other items.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:20 p.m. on April 10.

 

Other Theft

• Just before 6 p.m. on April 7, a trailer theft that occurred in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on April 4 was reported.

• A second-degree theft reported in the 500 block of Northeast Adams Avenue at approximately 12:55 p.m. on April 8 is under investigation.

• A vehicle theft reported in the 1500 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 2:55 p.m. on April 9 is under investigation.

A second-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:20 p.m. on April 9 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• At approximately 9:30 a.m. on April 8, a caller reported two men tried to break into her locked vehicle in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue while she was inside the vehicle. The two men reportedly left once they realized she was inside.

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:10 a.m. on April 10.

• A vehicle prowl was reported at the intersection of Northwest Oregon Way and Northwest Duffy Street just after 6:45 p.m. on April 10.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 163 inmates, including 142 in the general population and 21 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 116 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 18 were reported male and three were reported female.
