Sirens: Man attacked by stranger; report of 'a male exposing his genitalia'; $2,000 worth of beauty items stolen

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Open container

• A subject was warned for having an open container of alcohol in public in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just before 9:40 a.m. on April 5.

 

Burglary

• A burglary of a vacant residence in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road was reported just before 2 p.m. on April 5.

• Tools and other items were reported missing following a burglary to a vacant shop in the 1100 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 1:05 p.m. on April 6.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute between roommates was reported in the 900 block of B Street at approximately 3 p.m. on April 5.

• A physical dispute involving a woman hitting a man was reported at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Center Street just after 6:50 p.m. on April 5. The man did not wish to pursue charges against the woman, whom he did not know. The woman was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of West Pear Street at 5:40 a.m. on April 6.

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 200 block of North Gold Street just before 6:55 a.m. on April 6. When officers arrived, “all parties denied any knowledge of the dispute,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Drug violations

• A 64-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 900 block of L Street at 3:30 p.m. on April 5 for possession of meth and a meth smoking device. Officers contacted the man while responding to a civil dispute, where the man reportedly refused to allow his roommate into their shared residence.

• A 45-year-old Pe Ell man was cited for possession of “illegal narcotics” in the 200 block of West Main Street just after 4 p.m. on April 6.

 

Indecent exposure

• A 49-year-old Tenino man was cited for indecent exposure at a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at 5:45 p.m. on April 5 after officers responded to a report of “a male exposing his genitalia.”

 

Theft

• A theft was reported in the 100 block of West High Street at 6:30 p.m. on April 5. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.

• A 48-year-old Centralia woman was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 12:10 p.m. on April 6.

• A 39-year-old Winlock man was arrested in the 1100 block of Reynolds Avenue at 12:25 p.m. on April 6 for allegedly stealing a motorhome off of private property. 

 

Criminal trespass

• A 33-year-old Salkum man was arrested in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 8:15 a.m. on April 6 for trespassing.

• Several people who were reportedly “setting up camp” on private property in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:10 p.m. on April 7 were trespassed from the property.

 

DUI

• A 23-year-old Winlock man was arrested at the intersection of North Pearl and West Fifth streets just after 1:45 a.m. on April 6 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

• A 68-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:10 p.m. on April 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI and hit-and-run.

• A 20-year-old Elma man was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 3:15 a.m. on April 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1200 block of South Gold Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. on April 6.

 

Hit-and-run

• A vehicle reportedly made a U-turn in the roadway in the 1000 block of Reynolds Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. on April 7 and crossed into the path of another vehicle, causing a collision. The at-fault vehicle, a 2008 Mercedes passenger car with the Washington license plate CEC0281, fled the scene.

 

Malicious mischief

• Slashing damage to a vehicle’s tires was reported in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on April 6. The case is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 4:05 p.m. on April 6. The suspect was not located at the time the incident was reported.

• A 48-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 500 block of South Iron Street just before 11:10 p.m. on April 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and interfering with reporting domestic violence.

• A 19-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 400 block of North Ash Street at 11:40 p.m. on April 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence after she was involved in a physical dispute with her mother.

 

Found property

• A bank card that was found on the sidewalk at the intersection of West Magnolia and North Pearl streets was turned in at approximately 8:05 a.m. on April 7.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT



Theft

• At 9:50 a.m. on April 5, a business in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported  about $2,000 worth of beauty items were stolen on April 2.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man who was “screaming and yelling” inside a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on April 5 was trespassed from the business.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:15 p.m. on April 5 is under investigation.

• A camp was reported under a bridge in the 600 block of Shorey Road at 2:10 p.m. on April 6. Officers responded and didn’t find anyone “currently living under this bridge,” but noted there was “lots of garbage.”

• A man who reportedly “borrowed a customer’s phone (and) looked up sexual photos so he could draw them” at a business in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 2:20 p.m. on April 7 was trespassed from the business.

• Just before 5:20 p.m. on April 7, two male subjects reportedly trespassed on property in the 700 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue “to collect items from a prior tenant who was evicted.”

 

Disputes

• A woman reported a 22-year-old man was “trying to get physical with her” in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 2:45 p.m. on April 5.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1900 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 1:25 p.m. on April 7.

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 15th Street just after 8:45 p.m. on April 7.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Just before 5:10 p.m. on April 5, an employee at a business in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard reported a man came in and asked to use the business’s bathroom, but now she can’t find him and “is trying to close the store and is nervous he’s still inside.”

• A business owner in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard reported people were dumping trash in front of their business just before 8:25 p.m. on April 5. Officers confirmed the subjects were moving out of an apartment above the business and were not dumping trash.

• At approximately 12:50 a.m. on April 6, a citizen who a dispatcher noted was “not making sense” reported “indecent exposure, illegal parking, disorderly people (and) people camping where they shouldn’t be” in the 200 block of Southwest John Street. 

• Two unattended minors between the ages of 2 and 5 were reported inside a vehicle in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on April 6. A woman returned to the vehicle while the reporting party was on the phone with dispatchers.

• A man who possibly had a “crack pipe” was “yelling” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. on April 7.

• Three men were reportedly “yelling” in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2:25 a.m. on April 8.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A delivery truck got wedged in an overhang on private property in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue at 2:25 p.m. on April 6. No injuries were reported.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:20 p.m. on April 6.

 

Harassment

• Possible harassment or a phone scam was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 2:40 p.m. on April 6. The reporting party said she got an email saying she “is going to jail for fraud.”

• Just after 9:25 a.m. on April 9, a woman in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported multiple subjects were “harassing her for driving her friend’s truck” and were “making threats to hurt her cats.”

 

DUI

• A possible DUI was reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 1:15 a.m. on April 7. The reporting party told dispatchers his girlfriend was “driving drunk” in a red car but didn’t provide other details, saying “he doesn’t want to rat her out.”

 

Assault

• A male subject was arrested for third-degree assault in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:55 a.m. on April 7 after a business reported he was cutting boxes open with a box cutter. A Taser was deployed during the incident. Medical aid was dispatched.

 

Drug violation

• A subject was reportedly “doing and selling drugs” in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 10:25 a.m. on April 7.

 

Burglary

• A burglary to a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reported at 10:35 p.m. on April 7.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 59 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, nine fire-related calls, six vehicle accidents, nine non-emergency service calls, one public assist request, one hazardous conditions report and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 162 inmates, including 149 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 116 were reported male and 33 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 24 inmates, including 15 booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and two booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
