Sirens: Man arrested for threatening to kill someone; defendant sentenced after drugs found in Napavine; gun found on suspect after chase

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• A 23-year-old Centralia man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 200 block of West Pear Street just after 12:25 p.m. on May 2.

• A 45-year-old Centralia man was cited for fourth-degree assault following a physical altercation reported in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue at 3:45 a.m. on May 3.

• An assault reported in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street at 4:45 p.m. on May 3 is under investigation.

 

Fraud

• Fraudulent charges on a debit/credit card were reported in the 800 block of Elm Street just before 2:55 p.m. on May 2.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of South Silver Street at approximately 10:50 a.m. on May 3.

 

Theft

• A 21-year-old Centralia man was arrested for third-degree theft in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at approximately 9:55 p.m. on May 3 after he was caught stealing steaks and concealing them in his clothing.

• Shoes were reported stolen from a store in the 100 block of West High Street just after 12:40 p.m. on May 4. The case is under investigation.

• Four thefts reported in the 1000 block of South Yew Street just after 8:55 p.m. on May 4 involving the same male and female suspects are under investigation.

Harassment

• Jacob W. Daily, 47, of Winlock, was arrested for harassment after he allegedly threatened to kill someone walking on the sidewalk at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and West Plum Street just before 6:40 a.m. on May 4. He is also accused of disobeying commands from law enforcement, resisting arrest and being combative with police. He also allegedly had suspected meth on his person at the time of his arrest.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road just before 1:45 p.m. on May 4.

 



Drug violation

• A 21-year-old Centralia man was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:05 p.m. on May 4. He was also arrested for an unrelated fourth-degree assault.

 

Attempt to elude

• Andrew P. Rasmussen, 40, of Chehalis, was arrested for attempting to elude and unlawful possession of a firearm at the intersection of Marion and North Gold streets just after 7 a.m. on May 5. Rasmussen allegedly accelerated away from an officer after a traffic stop was initiated for not having a visible license plate on the black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle that he was operating. The motorcycle died on Little Hanaford Road in the 1600 block, at which time Rasmussen allegedly took off on foot, failing to follow the officer’s commands. Rasmussen was subsequently arrested in a large ditch on Loop Road. During a search of his person, officers reportedly located a loaded 9mm handgun in Rasmussen’s waist band.

Sentencings

• Jeffrey Scott Collidge, 47, of Tacoma, pleaded guilty May 1 to one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission. The possession of a controlled substance charge carried a deadly weapon enhancement. He was sentenced to 38 months and one day in prison.

• Austin Taylor Collins, 31, of La Center, pleaded guilty May 2 to one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver and was sentenced to 34 days in jail. He received credit for time served and was released from the Lewis County Jail after his sentencing hearing.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 70 illness-related calls, 15 injury-related calls, 12 fire-related calls, nine non-emergency service calls, one Lifeline medical alert, one overdose, five vehicle accidents, two reports of a death, one pregnancy-related calls, one suicide-related calls, one ambulance request and seven other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 168 inmates, including 155 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 123 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 17 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the La Push Quileute Nation, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
