Sirens: Man arrested for 'stealing electricity ... to power his electronics'; defendants sentenced in Lewis County Superior Court

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A 46-year-old Centralia man was arrested for “stealing electricity from (a) citizen to power his electronics” in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue at approximately 7:25 a.m. on June 9.

Burglary

• A burglary involving damage to a security fence and stolen property was reported in the 1300 block of Grand Avenue just after 10:35 a.m. on June 9.

Malicious mischief

• Graffiti was reported in the 300 block of Lowe Street just after 1:05 p.m. on June 9.

• Vandalism to a vehicle was reported at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Reynolds Avenue at 2:55 p.m. on June 10.

Drug violation

• A woman was referred on charges after she was found with narcotics and drug paraphernalia in her possession in the 1100 block of View Avenue just after 6:35 p.m. on June 9.

DUI

• A 35-year-old Morton man was arrested for DUI at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West First Street just before 12:55 a.m. on June 10.

Criminal trespass

• A 36-year-old Centralia man was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at 5:05 a.m. on June 10.

Assault



• A 47-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and for an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 4:50 p.m. on June 10.

Sentencing

• Shaquille Brisco Morgan, 31, of Portland, Oregon, pleaded guilty June 4 to one count of second-degree theft and was sentenced to six months in jail with credit for 14 days served.

• Zachary Allen Merrin, 29, of Elma, pleaded guilty June 6 to one count each of first-degree burglary, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and first-degree malicious mischief. He was sentenced to 36 months in prison.

• Genaro Junior Gusman, 22, of Salem, Oregon, pleaded guilty June 6 to one count each of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, obstructing a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and third-degree driving with a suspended license. He was sentenced to 16 months and one day in prison.

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 52 illness-related calls, 15 injury-related calls, 14 fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, three vehicle accidents, one ambulance request, one medical helicopter request, one overdose and five other calls.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 179 inmates, including 165 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 1134 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 19 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections, two booked by the Quileute Nation in La Push, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe and one booked by the Skokomish Tribe.
