Sirens: Kidnapping claim exposed as scam; man jailed for indecent exposure; arrests for narcotics

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Jonathan P. Church, 33, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 10:06 a.m. May 1. According to police, officers contacted Church in a vehicle and allegedly found him with suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale and clean baggies.

• Jacob I. Edwards, 35, Lacey, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for identity theft in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at about 9:03 p.m. May 2 after he allegedly provided a family member's name as his own during an investigation.

• Elton Hoard, 48, Tacoma, was arrested in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue at about 1:52 p.m. May 3 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Lewis County Superior Court warrant stemming from charges of alleged unlawful possession of a firearm and possessing a stolen vehicle. Hoard was also charged with alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia. A search incident to arrest allegedly located suspected methamphetamine. Police reportedly executed a search warrant for Hoard's car and located more alleged drug-related items and suspected methamphetamine.

• Jeff D. Prindle, 40, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for two counts of alleged second-degree burglary in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 2:24 p.m. May 3. Prindle allegedly entered into a previously trespassed business and stole items on two different occasions within the past two weeks.

Accidents

• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 12:25 p.m. May 1.

• A collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist was reported in the 200 block of North Rock Street at about 10:35 p.m. May 2.

Assault

• Officers responded to a reported fight at a local business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:48 p.m. May 1. The case is under investigation.

• Police investigated a reported assault at a bar in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue at about 1:04 a.m. May 3.

Criminal trespass

• Two transient individuals were trespassed from private property after attempting to set up camp in the 1500 block of South Gold Street at about 1:52 p.m. May 2.

• A 57-year-old Centralia woman was arrested after going onto previously trespassed property in the 300 block of North Gold Street at about 4:58 p.m. May 2.

Extortion

• Police logged a report in the 100 block of West Maple Street at about 2:43 p.m. May 1 regarding a victim who said he’d received a phone call alleging his daughter was being held captive and was going to be harmed or taken to Mexico if he did not wire money to the caller. Police reportedly verified that none of the victim’s daughters were being held captive and that the call was a scam.

Illegal burn

• Luke Baker, 56, Centralia, was cited for alleged illegal burning in the 900 block of East Locust Street at about 8:39 p.m. May 1.

Indecent exposure

• Don K. Gonzales, 37, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged indecent exposure and second-degree criminal trespass in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at about 3:30 p.m. May 1.

Order violation



• A domestic violence assault and protection order violation was reported in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 11:26 p.m. May 2. The case is under investigation.

Possession of controlled substance

• Kelvin B. Kempf, 39, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 9:50 a.m. May 1.

• Jamaal R. Dacus, 38, Longview, was arrested and released with a criminal citation for alleged unlawful possession of fentanyl and use of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of West High Street at about 7:55 p.m. May 2.

• Jackie D. Taylor, 34, Lacey, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at about 9:03 p.m. May 2. 

Theft

• Officers investigated a reported theft at a local store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 4:18 p.m. May 2.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• William J. Larson was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at about 12:48 p.m. May 1.

•  Clarence Rodgers was booked into the Lewis County Jail for one count of alleged second-degree malicious mischief in the 2400 block of North National Avenue at about 11:27 a.m. May 2.

• Amy Manolakos was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree retail theft with extenuating circumstances and resisting arrest in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 1:51 p.m. May 2.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of May 4, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 155 inmates, including 142 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 120 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of May 4, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 20 inmates. Of those, nine were from Centralia, two were from Elma and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Quileute Nation and the Shoalwater Bay Tribe.
