Sirens: K9 Hector assists after driver flees; defendants sentenced in Lewis County Superior Court; two men arrested for burglary

Sentencings

• Otto K. Banick, 52, Centralia, was sentenced March 4 to three months in jail with 77 days of credit for time served after making an Alford plea to one count of felony harassment. • Daniel L. Flores, 19, Centralia, was sentenced March 4 to 79 months in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to four counts of second-degree assault, including one with a firearm enhancement. Two additional counts were dropped as part of the plea deal. Flores was previously accused of participating in the kidnapping and armed robbery of a juvenile in 2024. • Daniel S. Gloyd, 54, Napavine, was sentenced March 4 to 51 months in prison and three years of community custody after making an Alford plea to one count each of third-degree child molestation and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. Gloyd was also sentenced to one year in jail and one year of community custody after making an Alford plea to one count of failure to register as a sex offender. • Levi Solomua, 44, Lakewood, was sentenced March 6 to four years in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree assault. Solomua was previously accused of assaulting a fellow patient at the American Behavioral Health Systems (ABHS) treatment facility in Chehalis. • Anthony P. Johnson, 32, Chehalis, was sentenced March 6 to five years in prison after making a Barr plea to one amended count of third-degree assault (domestic violence) and Alford pleas to single counts of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and interfering with domestic violence reporting. Johnson was previously accused of assaulting his girlfriend and trapping her in her home to prevent her from calling police. • John P. Clark, 30, Longview, was sentenced March 9 to four years in prison and one year of community custody after pleading guilty to three counts of second-degree identity theft and three counts of forgery. Two additional counts were dismissed by the court. Clark was previously accused of forging and attempting to negotiate four checks belonging to a Lewis County couple. Preliminary appearances

• Rolley W. Horrace, 29, Chehalis, made a preliminary appearance March 23 for one count each of residential burglary and third-degree possession of stolen property after he was accused of breaking into a Chehalis home through a laundry room window and then stealing multiple items, according to court documents. The court set bail at $5,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment for March 26.

• Kenneth Burge, 24, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance March 24 for one count of second-degree burglary after he was accused of shoplifting two food items from the Chehalis Walmart a day earlier. Court documents indicate Burge was previously trespassed from Walmart in June 2025. Prosecutors expressed concern regarding his 10 prior warrants and previous convictions for similar crimes. The court set bail at $7,500 cash or bond, in agreement with the state’s request. An arraignment was scheduled for March 26.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Officers and K9 Hector assisted Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies in arresting Ernest A. Calderon, 54, of Rochester, near the corner of North Pearl Street and West Sixth Street at about 3:45 p.m. March 23 after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop. Calderon reportedly had multiple outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.

• Daniel L. Flowers, 40, Centralia, was arrested after an alleged physical altercation with a family/household member in the 2800 block of Russell Road at about 3:08 p.m. March 24.

Accidents

• A three-vehicle collision was reported near the corner of West Reynolds Avenue and Blair Road at about 3:47 p.m March 24.

Criminal trespass

• A subject from Rochester was trespassed from private property in the 1400 block of Lois Lane at about 1:34 p.m. March 24.

Indecent exposure



• A witness reported a male suspect exposing his genitals in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at about 7:47 p.m. March 24. The case is under investigation.

Juvenile drug violation

• Officers responded to a report of a juvenile with a “weed pen” in the 900 block of Johnson Road at about 11:06 a.m. March 23. Charges were referred to the Lewis County Juvenile Court.

Malicious mischief

• Officers investigated vehicle damage caused by an unknown person in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 1:11 p.m. March 24.

Recovered stolen vehicle

• Officers responded to a report of a vehicle stuck on the center curb on Mellen Street at Marsh Avenue at about 8:35 p.m. March 23. The case is under investigation.

Theft

• Merchandise stolen from a local store was reported in the 100 block of West High Street at about 12:15 p.m. March 24. The case is under investigation.

Vehicle prowl

• Officers responded to a reported vehicle prowl in the 1000 block of West Second Street at about 8:09 a.m. March 23. The incident reportedly occurred during the night. The case is under investigation.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Chehalis Police Department has not yet released its most recent call reports. Look for updated information in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle and at chronline.com when the reports are made available.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of March 25, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 165 inmates, including 152 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 127 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of March 25, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 15 inmates. Of those, eight were from Centralia, two were from Elma, one was from Chehalis and three were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one from the Quileute Nation.
