Sirens: K-9 Havik alerts to narcotics; four arrested after I-5 chase; arrests for drugs, DUI and assault

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Daniel J.T. Adams, 30, Chehalis, was arrested in the 200 block of South Gold Street at approximately 11:07 a.m. on March 16 and was booked into jail for an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant.

• Uriah W.C. Osborne, 29, of Chehalis, was arrested for an outstanding Department of Corrections felony warrant and an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant in the 3400 block of Galvin Road at approximately 1:35 p.m. on March 16.

• Anthony D. Martinez, 25, of Centralia, was arrested in the 100 block of West Maple Street at approximately 11:09 a.m. on March 17 for an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant.

Counterfeiting

• Officers received a report of someone using a counterfeit bill at a store in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 10:07 a.m. on March 16.

Vehicle accident

• Officers responded to a two-vehicle, non-injury collision in the 200 block of West Reynolds Avenue at approximately 12:45 p.m. on March 16.

• Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 3000 block of Galvin Road at approximately 5:55 a.m. on March 18.

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 2:22 p.m. on March 16, officers received a report of damage done to a vehicle in the 2600 block of North Pearl Street over the weekend.

Assault

• Officers are investigating an assault that was reported in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at approximately 3:05 p.m. on March 16.

Theft

• A theft from a store in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue was reported at approximately 5:03 p.m. on March 16. It is unknown what items were actually stolen.

Eluding

• Bryan C. Sapp, 35, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for eluding. Officers received information from another agency that Jeffary T. Thompson, 29, of Fort Lauderdale, was in a vehicle that was on Interstate 5 near Chehalis at the time of the incident. Thompson was wanted for numerous outstanding felony warrants. Centralia police located the vehicle in the 2100 block of Jackson Highway at approximately 5:56 p.m. on March 16 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed north on I-5. Centralia police, the Washington State Patrol and Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies pursued the vehicle. Officers were successfully able to deploy spike stripes, causing two of the vehicle’s tires to go flat. The vehicle stopped just south of exit 88, at which time Sapp fled on foot. K-9 Havik was deployed and tracked Sapp, who was found hiding in nearby bushes and taken into custody. Sara L. Hayes, 45, of Spanaway, and Shannon L. Wilson, 55, of Milton, were also located in the vehicle. Hayes was arrested for several outstanding warrants, and Wilson was arrested for obstructing. All were booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Drug violations

• Jeramy S. Shepard, 50, of Curtis, was arrested and issued a criminal citation for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at the intersection of Borthwick and South Yew Streets at approximately 6:38 p.m. on March 17. During a traffic stop, K-9 Havik alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics.  A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine.



• A juvenile was found to have a marijuana vape in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue at approximately 7:29 p.m. on March 17. The juvenile has been referred for charging.

• Brian A. Bedortha, 57, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 1:27 a.m. on March 18 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

DUI

• Crystal A. Moloney, 45, of Centralia, was arrested at the intersection of Borthwick and South Yew streets at approximately 8:13 p.m. on March 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• A juvenile was referred on one count of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, following a family dispute reported in the 600 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 11:52 a.m. on March 14.

Protection order violation

• Christopher T. Harper was booked into Lewis County Jail for a protection order violation reported in the 800 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 12:40 p.m. on March 14.

Drug violation

• Darrin Rice was arrested in the 700 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at approximately 4:51 p.m. on March 14 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on a failure-to-appear warrant for a noise disturbance charge out of Chehalis Municipal Court. He was also cited for use of drug paraphernalia.

Burglary

• Victor V. Sands was arrested for one county of second-degree burglary in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 10:10 p.m. on March 14.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of March 18, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 168 inmates, including 155 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 128 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of March 18, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 15 inmates. Of those, eight were from Centralia and four were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Suquamish Tribe, the City of Chehalis and the City of Elma.
