Sirens: Jaws of Life thief gets three months in jail; Former Green Hill staffer sentenced; $100K bail after man's alleged attack on woman

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Preliminary appearances

• Gordon J. Harper, 51, Randle, made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Oct. 7 for one count of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault. According to court documents, prosecutors allege that Harper hit a woman in the head with her phone, pushed her into a door and threatened her with a knife after she refused to have sex with him. The alleged assault was said to have occurred on or about Oct. 18, 2024. Harper’s bail was set at $100,000 cash or bond. An arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 9.

• Brandt E. St. Pierre, 59, Silver Creek, made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Oct. 7 for one count of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. According to court documents, St. Pierre was previously convicted for second-degree murder, burglary, and assault, among other felonies, and was not allowed to possess firearms. His bail was set at $100,000 cash or bond. An arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 9.

Sentencings

• Edgar O. Gonzalez Barragan, 33, Seattle, was sentenced to three months in jail with 54 days credit for time served Oct. 3 after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree theft — specifically the theft of Jaws of Life rescue equipment from a Riverside Fire Authority fire truck. • Emily N. Baker, 30, Chehalis, was sentenced to seven years in prison and three years of community custody Oct. 6 after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree custodial sexual misconduct and four counts of second-degree introducing contraband. CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• TJ C.L. Davis, 27, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for third-degree theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue at about 5:59 a.m. Oct. 6. Davis was contacted while officers were investigating the report of a stolen bike, which Davis was allegedly found to have stolen.

• Robert D. Clark, 34, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespassing and resisting arrest in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 7:52 a.m. Oct. 6, after he allegedly refused to leave a business after being notified that he was being trespassed from the property. Clark allegedly attempted to run from officers once he was informed he was under arrest.

• Karen A. Cooley, 63, Edmonds, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly causing minor injuries to a household member in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at about 1:40 p.m. Oct. 6.

• Michael A. Kauer, 52, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for disorderly conduct after officers allegedly observed him throwing his boots into traffic and obstructing vehicles by walking into traffic in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 1:02 p.m. Oct 7.

• James E. Baldwin, 47, Oakville, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault after he allegedly attacked another individual causing severe injury to their eye in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 9:18 p.m. Oct. 7.

• Ode Johnsen, 61, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 12:03 a.m. Oct. 8, after he allegedly made unsolicited advances on a subject and touched them without consent.

Accidents

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1200 block of North Pearl Street at about 4:42 p.m. Oct. 6. The case is under investigation.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 100 block of South Silver Street at about 11:58 a.m. Oct. 7. The case is under investigation.



• Malena M. Henley, 55, Centralia, was arrested and given a criminal citation for hit-and-run in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 4:29 p.m. Oct. 7, after an investigation allegedly showed she left the scene of an accident without exchanging information.

Arson

• A small house fire was under investigation as a potential arson in the 200 block of L Street at about 3:11 a.m. Oct. 8. No further details were available.

Malicious mischief

• A vehicle’s window was reported damaged in the 900 block of Highland Avenue at about 7:01 a.m. Oct. 8. The damage was said to have occurred during the night. No further details were available.

Possession of meth

• Ronald K. Anderson, 62, Yelm, was arrested and transferred to the Lacey Police Department after he was allegedly found to have an outstanding DUI warrant out of their courts. Anderson was also issued a criminal citation for possession of a controlled substance after a search allegedly revealed suspected methamphetamine on his person in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street at about 1:45 p.m. Oct. 6.

Vehicular assault

• Officers responded to a report of an assault in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street at about 9:49 p.m. Oct. 6. The case is under investigation.

All other crimes

• A subject is under investigation for allegedly making unauthorized video recordings in a medical facility in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 2:44 a.m. Oct. 8. The subject allegedly accessed areas that were not open to the public during the incident.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Oct. 8, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 180 inmates, including 166 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 144 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.
