Sirens: Good Samaritan gets pictures of vehicle that hit pedestrian; DUI arrests; fire damages home in Centralia; men make competing claims after fight

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Centralia police officers helped the Department of Corrections locate Jence S. Sawyer, 34, of Centralia, after he allegedly fled from Department of Corrections officers who attempted to arrest him at the intersection of West Fifth and F streets just before 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 12.

• Dandre D. Aaron, 30, of Chehalis, was arrested at the intersection of South Yew and Elm streets at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 13 and was booked for an outstanding warrant.

• Jon C. Winchester, 68, of Grants Pass, was cited for driving on a suspended license and for unlawful possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop at the intersection of Johnson Road and Harrison Avenue just after 9:35 a.m. on Dec. 14 . Carlina F. Anderson, 36, of Chehalis, was arrested for obstructing a law enforcement officer after she allegedly refused to exit her vehicle when told.

• Justin J. Swart, 39, of Toledo, was arrested on an outstanding warrant at the Centralia Police Department station in the 100 block of West Maple Street at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Dec. 14.

• Jennifer Marie Bock, 51, Centralia, was arrested in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street at approximately 10 p.m. on Dec. 14 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Lewis County District Court.

Drug violations

• Christopher James Jackson Jr., 34, Centralia was arrested at the intersection of West Main and South Yew streets for failure to transfer title and possession of a controlled substance. Amy R. Gomez-Moreno, 34, Centralia, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  Both were booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• Jose Daniel Lozano-Rivas, 36, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail after meth was found in his vehicle in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street just before 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 13.

• Candice N Aho, 36, Centralia, was cited for possession of meth and using drug paraphernalia in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue at 11 p.m. on Dec. 14  Aho and a companion were contacted after being found asleep in their vehicle at the end of a city street.

Theft

• Money was reported stolen from the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 12. The case is under investigation.

• A 2016 Nissan Frontier was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Cooks Hill Road just before 7:20 a.m. on Dec. 14. The vehicle’s owner had started the truck to warm it up, went inside, and later came outside to find it had been stolen.

Criminal trespass

• A transient from Olympia was trespassed from a business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street just after 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 11.

• Justin B. Bedortha, 35, of Centralia, was arrested for trespassing in the 1000 block of South Yew Street just after 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 12.

DUI

• Alexander J. Lyttle, 32, of Chehalis, was arrested for DUI at the intersection of West Cherry and South Silver streets at 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 12.

• Jose Rodriguez-Garduno, 36, of Centralia, was arrested for DUI at the intersection of West Sixth Street and North Tower Avenue just after 2:10 a.m. on Dec. 13.



• Kameron Stalain Williams, 19, Toledo, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail after he was found to be intoxicated in his vehicle with access to the car’s keys. He was located in a public parking lot in the 200 block of West Reynolds Avenue just after 11:10 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Harassment

• James A. Sherr, 42, of Onalaska, was arrested in the 1100 block of View Avenue just before 6:35 a.m. on Dec. 13 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for harassment.

• Officers are investigating a harassment case reported at the intersection of Johnson Road and Earl Street just before 2:35 p.m. on Dec. 13. Two males got into an argument, with one party claiming the other tried to run them over while the other claimed they had a gun pulled on them.  This case is still under investigation.

Assault

• Tieler J. Foster, 28, of Centralia, was arrested for second-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 1700 block of North Pearl Street at noon on Dec. 13. Officers had responded to a physical dispute where Foster allegedly strangled and bit the victim.

• Tyler J. Carbaugh, 34, Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of South Yew Street just after 11:55 p.m. on Dec. 13 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for two counts of fourth-degree assault and one count each of third-degree theft, possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia. These charges stemmed from Carbaugh allegedly shoplifting at a retail store. When contacted, Carbaugh allegedly assaulted two loss prevention officers while they detained him. Meth was later found in his possession.

Malicious mischief

• Graffiti was reported on a building in the 100 block of West Maple Street at 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Hit-and-run

• A 49-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing East Walnut Street near South Tower Avenue just after 5:55 p.m. on Dec. 13. The registration and photograph of the suspect vehicle was obtained by a good Samaritan. A thorough check of the area by several law enforcement agencies was conducted yielding negative results. A follow-up investigation is underway.

Fire

• A fully involved, two-story structure fire was reported in the 400 block of East Magnolia Street just after 8:10 p.m. on Dec. 13. Neighboring houses were evacuated as the Riverside Fire Authority contained the flames. The origin and source are being investigated by Centralia detectives and the Riverside Fire Authority.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Chehalis Police Department has not yet released its most recent call reports. Look for updated information in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle and at chronline.com when the reports are made available.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Dec. 15, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 165 inmates, including 152 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 120 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Dec. 15, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 25 inmates. Of those, 10 were from Centralia, nine were from the Department of Corrections and one was from Napavine. Additionally, there was one inmate each from the Quileute Nation, Suquamish Tribe, Shoalwater Bay Tribe, Tulalip Tribe and Lummi Nation.
