Criminal trespass

• Just after 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 19, officers were asked to check on two homeless men camped out behind a mission in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue and ask them to move along. Officers advised the men of the no-camping ordinance.

• A person camping in their vehicle on the roadway in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 22 was issued a warning.

Theft

• A 48-year-old Longview man was cited for third-degree theft after an officer caught him shoplifting from an outlet in the 100 block of West High Street at 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 19.

• An unidentified male wearing “a black jacket and purple hooded sweatshirt” reportedly stole a package from a front porch in the 100 block of North Diamond Street at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Jan. 20.

• An unidentified male wearing “a black jacket and purple hooded sweatshirt” reportedly stole a propane tank from the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of South Gold Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.

• A 32-year-old Onalaska man was cited for shoplifting in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 21.

• A 32-year-old Onalaska man was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Jan. 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he allegedly shoplifted from a store from which he was trespassed.

• A 53-year-old Centralia woman was referred to Centralia Municipal Court for domestic violence third-degree theft just after 5 p.m. on Jan. 21 after she allegedly took a family member’s phone in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue and refused to return it.

Department assist

• Just before 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 19, Centralia officers responded to the Walmart parking lot in the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis to assist Chehalis police with a harassment complaint. An adult male had allegedly threatened another adult male with a pocket knife after a verbal confrontation. One male was detained by Centralia officers, and the preliminary investigation was started. The male was turned over to the Chehalis Police Department and later booked into Lewis County Jail for felony harassment.

Harassment

• A 43-year-old homeless man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 8 p.m. on Jan. 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for felony harassment after he allegedly threatened to kill people at a store. He allegedly “made shooting gestures with his hands and was observed digging around in a truck as if looking for something, which caused alarm to the victim, thinking it might be a gun,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The man was searched and a rifle bullet was located on his person, but no weapons were with him or in the truck.

Assault

• An unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence fourth-degree assault reported in the 1500 block of Lewis Street just before 9:50 p.m. on Jan. 19 is under investigation. The suspect allegedly didn’t allow the victim to leave an apartment several times by pushing her down.

• An 18-year-old Chehalis man was arrested in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road just before 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 20 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A 31-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 700 block of North Pearl Street just after 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for domestic violence fourth-degree assault and an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant. She allegedly barricaded herself in a bedroom to avoid arrest, but “police were eventually able to gain entry into the room,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in an upstairs apartment in the 2800 block of Russell Road just after 10:20 p.m. on Jan. 19. Shortly after officers spoke to the tenants of the upstairs apartment, the tenants called to report their downstairs neighbors were “hitting the ceiling with something, causing excessive noise.” The tenants of both apartments were “advised not to cause excessive noise that disturbs others,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

DUI

• A 34-year-old Rochester woman was arrested in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI after she was involved in a minor parking lot collision. 

Disorderly conduct

• At approximately 8:35 a.m. on Jan. 20, officers responded to a report of a disorderly man at a restaurant in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue who was reportedly making restaurant patrons “nervous by his actions and speech.” The man agreed to move along.

• Two homeless men were warned for disorderly conduct after they got into a “heated altercation while they were catching the bus for breakfast” in the 900 block of Old Airport Way at approximately 9 a.m. on Jan. 21.

Recovered vehicle

  A 44-year-old SeaTac man was arrested at the intersection of East and West Fifth streets at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 20 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle from Tacoma

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, minor collision was reported in a parking lot in the 100 block of west High Street just before 3 p.m. on Jan. 21.

• A non-injury, minor collision was reported in a parking lot in the 500 block of North Pearl Street just after 5:35 p.m. on Jan. 21.

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 19 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
