Sirens: DUI Arrests; Anger Over Increased Cost of Coke in Drive Thru; Driver Falls Asleep, Knocks Out Power

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Prowl

• A Centralia resident was arrested in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just after 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 7 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly breaking into a vehicle and stealing Seahawks clothing.

• Just after 8 a.m. on Oct. 9, a knife collection, a flashlight and documents were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of South Pearl Street sometime overnight.

 

Vehicle Theft

• A gold 1995 Honda Accord with the license plate ADY5617 was reported stolen from the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue just after 9:25 p.m. on Oct. 8.

• A flatbed trailer with the license plate 61350AA was reported stolen from the 700 block of South Silver Street at 6:55 a.m. on Oct. 10. The theft reportedly occurred sometime overnight. A large smoker was reportedly on the trailer when it was stolen.

 

Other Theft

• At 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, a wagon was reported stolen off of a front porch in the 200 block of Harrison Avenue sometime overnight.

• An undetermined amount of cash was reported stolen from a business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 8 after the business was reportedly burglarized overnight. The case is under investigation.

• Just after 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 9, a Centralia man was cited for stealing two energy drinks from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue the day prior. The subject allegedly returned to the business the next day and was recognized by an employee. He has since been trespassed from the business.

 

Trespassing

• A man was cited for trespassing in the 100 block of South Silver Street just before 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 7.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• The power was out in the area around the 2300 block of North Pearl Street for several hours Friday evening after a driver fell asleep, left the road and struck a power pole just before 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 7. No injuries were reported, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• No injuries were reported after a vehicle crashed into a building in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue at approximately 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 8.

• Several people reported minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on Oct. 8.

• A driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car at the intersection of North Pearl and West Main streets just after 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 8. No injuries were reported.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A Centralia man was cited for third-degree malicious mischief in the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road at 9 p.m. on Oct. 7 after a citizen reportedly caught him painting graffiti on their property.

• The lock to a shed in the 800 block of North Pearl Street was reported damaged just before 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 9.

• Damage to several vehicles parked at a residence in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue was reported just before 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 9. The case is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A 16-year-old was cited for driving under the influence in the 1200 block of Borthwick Street just before 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 8.

• A Tenino man was arrested at the intersection of Centralia College Boulevard and South Ash Street at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence and hit-and-run. He was allegedly involved in a collision with a parked vehicle and fled the scene. An officer located the man and his vehicle a few blocks away from the collision.

 

Assault

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 2200 block of Cooks Hill Road just before 1:25 a.m. on Oct. 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disputes

• A dispute where someone reportedly threw something from a vehicle at someone else was reported in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 7.

• A woman was reportedly chasing a 12-year-old with a broom in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just before 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 7.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. on Oct. 7.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 7 is under investigation.



 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 600 block of North National Avenue just after 1:40 p.m. on Oct. 7.

• At 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 7, a minor, non-injury vehicle accident that occurred in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard about an hour prior was reported.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 is under investigation.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 8.

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 9.

 

Vehicle Prowl 

• An attempted vehicle prowl was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 7.

• A fishing pole was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 7.

 

Other Theft

• A third-degree theft reported in the 2000 block of Jackson Highway just after 10 a.m. on Oct. 8 is under investigation.

 

Trespassing

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just before 4:50 p.m. on Oct. 7 after he reportedly “refused to leave the drive-thru” and was “upset because the price of his Coke has changed.”

• Two subjects on bikes who were reportedly “rummaging through the dumpsters” at a property in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Oct. 7 were trespassed from the property “for forever.”

• Two “potential shoplifters,” including one “repeat offender” were trespassed from a business in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue at 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 7.

• A man who was reportedly armed with a knife and was yelling at employees at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was cited for trespassing at 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 9.

 

Rape Investigation

• A case of rape reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:50 p.m. on Oct. 7 is under investigation.

 

Death Investigation

• A death reported in the 600 block of Northwest Quincy Place just after 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 9 is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A 19-year-old Silver Creek man and two 20-year-old Rochester men were arrested in the 1500 block of South Gold Street just after 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 7. The Silver Creek man was cited for minor in possession and consumption of alcohol, one of the Rochester men was cited for minor in possession and consumption of alcohol and obstructing an officer, and the other Rochester man was cited for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.

• Graham T. Fischer, 29, of Seattle, was arrested at approximately 12:25 a.m. on Oct. 8 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after he crashed into a traffic signal pole at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue. No injuries were reported.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• A man wearing a face mask and a black trench coat was reportedly carrying “what looked like … a machete” in the 600 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at 2:50 a.m. on Oct. 8.

• Just before 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 9, a caller at the intersection of Southeast Adams Avenue and Southeast Park Hill Drive reported finding “a folded up $2 bill with a little packet of what looks to be drugs” in the roadway.

• Two men in a black Honda were reportedly “urinating between the building and the dumpster” on a property in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at 2:45 p.m.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 187 inmates, including 171 in the general population and 16 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 144 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 14 were reported male and two were reported female.
