Sirens: Drug violations, car stuck in flower bed, customer locked in storage facility

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Criminal trespass
• Two male subjects reportedly trespassed on property in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 9:05 a.m. on Jan. 16.
• A 42-year-old man was trespassed from a property in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Jan. 16.
• A homeless man, who was reportedly setting up camp in the lobby of a business in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue, was trespassed from the property just before 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 16.
• A man was cited for trespassing at a business in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 16.
• A disorderly homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 600 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 10:25 a.m. on Jan. 17.
• Someone reportedly dug through a business’s dumpster in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 18. The reporting party asked officers to trespass the subject from the property.
• A subject reportedly “doing drugs of some sort” in a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was trespassed from the property at approximately 10 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Disputes
• A verbal dispute was reported in the 400 block of Southeast Prospect Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 16.
• A verbal dispute over handicap parking was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:35 p.m. on Jan. 18.
• A “family disturbance/dispute” reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation.
• A dispute that involved an adult chasing a juvenile, the juvenile grabbing a knife and fleeing a residence was reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just after 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 18. No assault was reported.
• A verbal dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 19.

Theft
• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 17.
• A case of identity theft reported in the 10 block of Southwest Second Street at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation.

Shooting complaint
• A caller in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported hearing “possibly 20 (gunshots)” on the other side of Interstate 5 just after 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 17.

Harassment
• Ongoing harassment was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 11:40 a.m. on Jan. 17.
• Just before 1:40 p.m. on Jan. 17, a caller in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported her neighbor threatened to assault her after the caller confronted the neighbor “about parking in her spot.”

Assault
• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 is under investigation.
• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation.

Drug violations
• A drug violation reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 17 is under investigation.
• A drug violation reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 17 is under investigation.
• A marijuana violation reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 2:55 p.m. on Jan. 17 is under investigation.
• A drug violation reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 3:10 p.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation.
• A drug violation reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 3:50 p.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation.

DUI
• A subject was cited for a DUI after he crashed a 1990s blue Subaru station wagon in the 1200 block of Bishop Road just before 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 17.

Disorderly conduct
• Disorderly conduct reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 12:35 p.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation.
• A vehicle reportedly broke down in the middle of the roadway in the 300 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 18. The driver was reportedly “verbal” with passersby.

Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 1:05 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Suspicious circumstances
• A male subject wearing a cowboy hat and carrying a hatchet was reportedly walking in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard just before 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 18. He reportedly chased someone in front of the bowling alley.
• Two teenagers were reportedly playing with an open razor blade inside a barber shop in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 4:15 p.m. on Jan. 18. The reporting party claimed the teens were “attacking” the shop and said “the kids come in and sit and ‘terrorize.”
• A homeless person reportedly lit a small fire in an alcove “to stay warm” in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard just after 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 18.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Criminal trespass
• A disorderly male subject reportedly screaming at people inside a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 8:35 a.m. on Jan. 17 was trespassed from the store.

Disorderly conduct
• A disorderly male was reportedly “in the roadway screaming at unknown persons and hitting a vehicle” in the 300 block of East Magnolia Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 17. The officer helped the man find his lost cellphone and gave him a warning.

Vehicle accidents
• A vehicle went over a curb and “got stuck in a flower garden” in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 17. No injuries or damage were reported.
• A non-injury, two-vehicle rear-end collision was reported at the intersection of Reynolds Avenue and North Pearl Street just after 2:05 p.m. on Jan. 17.
• A non-injury, two-vehicle rear-end collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues at 7:20 a.m. on Jan. 18.
• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues just after 7:20 a.m. on Jan. 18.

Hit-and-run/DUI
• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1300 block of Mellen Street just before 3 p.m. on Jan. 17. The victim advised an officer that a gray Isuzu Rodeo driven by a female had collided into his vehicle at least twice, then fled traveling the wrong way on Mellen Street. Officers checked the area for the suspect vehicle but were not able to immediately locate it. A short time later, the same vehicle was involved in another collision on Harrison Avenue. The driver, a 48-year-old Centralia woman, was cited for multiple counts of hit-and-run, DUI, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device and third-degree driving with a suspended license. She was not booked into the Lewis County Jail “due to pre-existing medical conditions,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

Theft
• A third-degree theft reported at a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 17 is under investigation.
• Medication was reported stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road just after 7:10 a.m. on Jan. 18. The case is under investigation.
• A male subject allegedly stole butane and lighters from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 18. An officer located the suspect, a 35-year-old Chehalis man, nearby and issued him a citation for the Jan. 18 theft and a Jan. 17 theft.
• A 46-year-old Tumwater man was cited for third-degree theft in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue after he was found with items concealed on his person inside a store.

Camping violations
• Two homeless people were reportedly camping under the Skookumchuck River bridge at the intersection of West First Street and Harrison Avenue just after 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 18. The officer advised both subjects of the city’s camping municipal code and provided them with information on local resources.
• An officer contacted a man sleeping in his vehicle at the intersection of East Plum and South Buckner streets just after 10:55 a.m. on Jan. 18. The officer advised him of the city’s camping municipal code and provided them with information on local resources.

Public assist
• At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 18, a customer of a storage complex in the 600 block of North Gold Street called to report he could not exit the facility due to his code not activating the gate. Police later successfully contacted the facility’s manager, who remotely opened the gate to let the customer out.

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS
As of Thursday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
