Sirens: Driver arrested for DUI after crash; e-bike stolen from locked rack; Flock cameras used to solve hit-and-run

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Caleb G. Sawyer, 32, Centralia, was arrested for alleged fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence) in the 1200 block of G Street at about 12:37 a.m. Sept. 17.

• Dylan J. Christensen, 43, Yelm, was arrested for alleged third-degree assault and obstructing a law enforcement officer in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue at about 12:46 a.m. Sept. 17.

• Kurt Dutton, 54, Chehalis, was arrested for alleged hit-and-run of an attended vehicle and third-degree driving with a suspended license in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue at about 2:57 p.m. Sept. 17. Officers reportedly used Flock cameras to identify Dutton’s vehicle.

• Allen L. Ward, 43, Centralia, was arrested for second-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault and second-degree theft after allegedly assaulting an elderly male and taking his phone in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street at about 7:55 p.m. Sept. 17.

Accidents

• A two-vehicle collision was reported near the corner of South Pearl Street and West Cherry Street at about 3:38 p.m. Sept. 17.

• Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near the corner of West Reynolds Avenue and View Avenue at about 8:21 p.m. Sept. 17.

Burglary

• Unlawful entry into a building was reported in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at about 12:38 p.m. Sept. 16. The unknown suspect or suspects reportedly stole power tools.

Criminal trespass

• A transient individual was trespassed from a local business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street at about 12:47 p.m. Sept. 17.

• John W. Hansen, 33, Centralia, was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass after allegedly refusing to leave a property in the 300 block of North Pearl Street at about 12:13 a.m. Sept. 18.

Theft

• An e-bike was reported stolen from a locked bike rack in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:59 a.m. Sept. 16. No suspect information was known at the time.

• A theft of funds was reported in the 400 block of East Summa Street at about 10:37 a.m. Sept. 16. The case is under investigation.



DUI

• Victor A. Morales Lopez, 26, Centralia, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after colliding with two parked vehicles in the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue at about 1:48 a.m. Sept. 17.

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a window was reported in the 1400 block of Windsor Avenue at about 11:41 a.m. Sept. 16. No suspect information was known at the time.

Vehicle prowl

• A laptop computer was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1500 block of South Gold Street at about 9:21 a.m. Sept. 16. No suspect information was known at the time.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests and citations

• Dylan S. Hirsch was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged third-degree assault of a child (domestic violence) in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at about 3:15 p.m. Sept. 11.

• Amy M. Coalwell was issued a criminal citation for an alleged protection order violation in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at about 7:10 p.m. Sept. 13.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Sept. 18, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 147 inmates, including 133 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Sept. 18, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 18 inmates. Of those, four were from Centralia, one was from Elma and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were four from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Chehalis Tribal Court and the Quileute Nation.
