Sirens: Defendants sentenced in superior court; woman accused of doing 'whippets' behind the wheel; man jailed for strangling family member

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Sentencings

• Donald W. Hogan, 52, Auburn, was sentenced to 15 months in prison and 12 months of community custody Sept. 26 after pleading guilty to violation of domestic violence court order. For more Chronicle coverage on the case, visit https://tinyurl.com/3nksnm74. 

• Earl L. Rahn IV, 21, Centralia, was sentenced to two years of community custody and a mental health sentencing alternative Sept. 26 after pleading guilty to second-degree assault, domestic violence. CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Samantha N. Kirsch, 33, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail on the charge of physical control of a vehicle while under the influence, after it was discovered that she was in control of a motor vehicle while allegedly abusing nitrous oxide aka “whippets” in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at about 1:36 p.m. Sept. 27.

• Gregorio Cordero, 36, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for harassment and fourth-degree assault after he allegedly threatened to injure someone and threw a wooden board at them in the 900 block of Old Airport Way at about 2:55 p.m. Sept. 27.

• Matthew Escamilla, 22, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, domestic violence, after he allegedly strangled a family/household member and disrupted their breathing in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 1:44 a.m. Sept. 28.

Accidents

• A hit-and-run collision of a parked vehicle was reported at the corner of South Tower Avenue and East Locust Street at about 11:59 p.m. Sept. 28. Suspect information is currently unavailable. The case is under investigation.

Theft

• A juvenile was referred to the Lewis County juvenile prosecutor for alleged possession of stolen property in the 2700 block of Niki Lane at about 10:32 a.m. Sept. 26.



• A second-degree theft investigation involving credit cards began in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 4:30 p.m. Sept. 26.

• A juvenile was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for third-degree theft charges after an officer allegedly observed him leaving a store without paying for $200 worth of merchandise in the 100 block of West High Street at about 1:34 p.m. Sept. 27. The juvenile reportedly returned the items and apologized. His parent picked him up.

• A Nintendo Switch was reported stolen at about 6:58 a.m. Sept. 28 after it was left unattended while charging in the 100 block of North Gold Street.

Reckless endangerment

• Ronald Greenwood, 44, Centralia, and Akyah Lorton, 26, Elma, were referred to the Centralia prosecutor for alleged reckless endangerment in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 5:44 p.m. Sept. 26. 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Sept. 26, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 165 inmates, including 152 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 130 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
