Sirens: Defendants sentenced in Lewis County Superior Court; K9 Havik helps with another arrest; dirt bike rider eludes officers

Sentencings

• James D. Sigman, 37, Centralia, was sentenced Jan. 12 to four months in jail and ordered to forfeit all firearms after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. • Stephanny S. Johnson, 37, Portland, Oregon, was sentenced Jan. 12 to four years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree organized retail theft. According to court documents, Johnson will serve her sentence in Oregon to run concurrently with another case out of Polk County.

• Tiras Dietzen, 48, Chehalis, was sentenced Jan. 13 to nine months in jail with 152 days of credit for time served and 12 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree arson. Dietzen was initially charged with one count of first-degree arson. As part of his sentence, Dietzen must complete a mental health evaluation and comply with all recommendations, as well as refrain from possessing or consuming marijuana or alcohol, according to court documents. • Adam L. Waid, 48, Pe Ell, was sentenced Jan. 14 to a total of three months in jail with 22 days of credit for time served and 12 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count each of second-degree accomplice liability assault and making a false statement to a public servant. • Alissa M. McDrummond, 25, Chehalis, was sentenced Jan. 14 to up to six months of community custody and ordered to pay $18,000 in restitution to the victim after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree theft from a vulnerable adult. The first payment is due 30 days from the sentencing date, according to court documents. McDrummond is prohibited from contacting the victim for 10 years. • Dustin R. Mclaughlin, 36, Castle Rock, was sentenced Jan. 23 to four months in jail with 34 days of credit for time served and 12 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count each of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and third-degree possession of stolen property. A third count of third-degree possession of stolen property was dropped. Mclaughlin must also participate in substance use evaluation and treatment. He was initially charged with one count each of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, second-degree possession of stolen property and third-degree possession of stolen property after police arrested him with 70 to 80 alleged doses of fentanyl — worth up to $1,600 — following an investigation into a stolen license plate. • Kaleb A. Gallauher, 25, was sentenced to four months in jail with seven days of credit for time served and 12 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer. He must also participate in substance use evaluation and treatment. Gallauher was initially charged with second-degree assault following an attempted escape from law enforcement last November. • Timothy A. Murphy, 48, Centralia, was sentenced Jan. 28 to six months in jail and 12 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree rape. A second count was dismissed. As part of his sentence, Murphy must surrender any firearms, maintain a sex offender registration and complete psychosexual evaluation and treatment. A sexual assault protection order was entered on behalf of the victim. According to previous Chronicle reporting, Murphy also faced nine third-degree rape of a child charges in Thurston County Superior Court for allegedly assaulting the same victim in Thurston County between 2021 and 2022. • Jeremy A. Sturdevant, 44, Chehalis, was sentenced Jan. 30 to 364 days in jail with 361 days suspended for two years and three days of credit for time served after pleading guilty to one count of harassment. Two additional charges were dropped. As part of the sentence, Sturdevant must surrender any firearms and is prohibited from contacting the victim. According to previous Chronicle reporting, Sturdevant was originally accused of showing a Centralia convenience store employee a gun and demanding money. Preliminary appearances

• Stephanie M. Sampson, 46, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance Feb. 2 for one count each of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and driving while under the influence. The court ordered Sampson not to drive a motor vehicle while the case was pending and set bail at $50,000 cash or bond. She pleaded not guilty to the charges during an arraignment on Feb. 5.

• Heather L. Colwell, 45, Winlock, made a preliminary appearance Feb. 3 for one count of second-degree assault domestic violence after she was accused of strangling a minor child. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or bond. The court entered a no-contact order on behalf of the alleged victim and an order for Colwell to surrender any dangerous weapons. She pleaded not guilty to the charge during an arraignment on Feb. 5.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Jennifer L. Barber, 49, Centralia, was arrested near the corner of West Summa Street and South Tower Avenue at about 7:42 p.m. Feb. 4 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia. During the traffic stop, K9 Havik reportedly alerted to the odor of narcotics. Officers obtained a search warrant and allegedly located suspected methamphetamine and other paraphernalia.

• Victor V. Sands, 41, Edmonds, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct and an outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrant in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue at about 9:35 p.m. Feb. 5. Officers allegedly observed Sands standing in the middle of the roadway obstructing traffic.



Accidents

• Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near the corner of Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street at about 12:58 p.m. Feb. 5.

Eluding police

• An officer attempted to stop a dirt bike near the corner of North Pearl Street and West First Street at about 5:58 p.m. Feb. 5. The rider fled, going the wrong way on a one-way street. Police indicated they did not pursue the motorcycle out of concern for public safety.

Theft

• Officers investigated the reported theft of a gaming console from a business in the 1400 block of South Gold Street at about 9:56 a.m. Feb. 4.

• A tip jar was reported stolen in the 600 block of South Pearl Street at about 6:07 p.m. Feb. 4. Suspects were reportedly known.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Feb. 6, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 174 inmates, including 161 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 130 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Feb. 6, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 11 inmates. Of those, three were from Centralia and four were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Skokomish Tribe, the Quileute Nation, the Suquamish Tribe and the Tulalip Tribe.
