Sirens: Children left in Vehicle; Catalytic Converter Theft Attempt Fails; Rocks Thrown Through Business Windows

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious Mischief

• An attempted catalytic converter theft that took place sometime overnight at a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue was reported just before 8:45 a.m. on July 22. The suspect or suspects cut the exhaust pipe, but were unable to get the catalytic converter off of the car. 

• A window of a residence in the 500 block of South Rock Street was damaged sometime overnight. The call came in shortly after 8:50 a.m. on July 22. There is no suspect information at this time.

• At around 10:40 a.m. on July 22, two businesses on South Gold Street reported large windows were broken with a rock overnight. Police officers have a person of interest and are actively seeking to question him. The first business was located in the 1600 block of South Gold Street, while the second business was located in the 1000 block of South Gold Street.

 

Criminal Trespass

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue after he allegedly made threatening statements shortly before 9:10 a.m. on July 22.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue shortly after 11:50 a.m. on July 22 after he reportedly took items from the store without paying for them. The man was located and the items were returned to the store.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 1:20 p.m. on July 22 after he lit a cigarette inside the store and drank items he hadn’t paid for.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street shortly before 5:20 p.m. on July 22 after he reportedly caused a disturbance.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at around 8:15 p.m. on July 22 after he caused a disturbance and refused to leave.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at around 4:50 a.m. on July 23 after he refused to leave and caused a disturbance.

 

Theft

• A 27-year-old woman from Chehalis was arrested and released for theft in the third-degree after she stole from a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue shortly before 9:35 p.m. on July 22.

• Food was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on July 23.

• A generator was reported stolen in the 700 block of F Street shortly before 7 p.m. on July 23.

 

Traffic Complaint

• A vehicle “recklessly fled” from police officers during an attempted traffic stop in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue shortly before 9:45 p.m. on July 22.

 

Vehicle Theft

• A vehicle was reported stolen sometime overnight from a parking lot in the 500 block of North Iron Street shortly before 8:50 a.m. on July 23. The vehicle was later located by police officers with the assistance of the owner’s tracking app. There is no suspect information at this time.

 

DUI

• Ricki J. Paxton, 28, of Onalaska, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol near the intersection of Little Hanaford Road and Marion Street. The call came in shortly before 10:10 a.m. on July 23.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• A victim reported their vehicle’s window had been broken and their wallet was stolen shortly after 10:20 a.m. on July 23 in the 500 block of South Cedar Street.

 

Assault

• A person reported an assault in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive shortly after 10:50 a.m. on July 23. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Informational Report

• Two kids who were around 1 years old were reportedly left alone in a vehicle in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue as their mom went into a store shortly after 2:45 p.m. on July 22. An officer contacted the mom and educated her. No arrests were made.



• A person called shortly before 8:30 p.m. on July 23 to report her ex-boyfriend was showing pictures of her to other people and was harassing her on Facebook. The ex-boyfriend was reportedly threatening to beat up the woman’s current boyfriend. No arrests were made.

• A person reportedly watched two people in an alley take stuff out of an abandoned RV in the 200 block of Southwest First Street and load it into their truck shortly after 11:35 p.m. on July 23. No arrests were made.

• A person called to report kids ranging in age from 8 to 12 were climbing on the walls of the school in the 10 block of Southwest Third Street at 12:40 p.m. on July 24. No arrests were made.

• A pilot called to report a drone was spotted flying four miles southeast of the airport at an altitude between 4,000 and 4,500 feet shortly before 3:25 p.m. on July 24. The caller reported the drone operator needed to get clearance if they were flying that high. No arrests were made.

 

Disturbance

• A call about a dispute in the 10 block of South Market Boulevard was reported shortly before 4:35 p.m. on July 22. The reporting party stated two people were arguing. One of the people refused to leave and punched the door. A person was trespassed from the property. No arrests were made.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 500 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue shortly after 12:40 p.m. on July 23. The woman was reportedly screaming about kids, while the man tried to get her out of the vehicle. The woman stated the man put his hands on her and stated the kids saw the incident. No arrests were made.

 

Accident

• A person called to report their car was “door dinged” by another vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue shortly before 5:10 p.m. on July 22. The owner of the damaged vehicle showed an officer what she believed was the damage caused by the other vehicle, but it did not match with the door of the other vehicle.

• A vehicle collided with a bike and injuries were reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue shortly before 6:10 p.m. on July 22. See page Main 2 for more information.

• A two-vehicle accident with damage was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue shortly before 7:50 p.m. on July 24. No arrests were made.

 

Shooting Complaint

• A person called to report they heard three shots and then heard a vehicle drive off in the 100 block of Northeast Leona Lane at 1:35 p.m. on July 23. No arrests were made.

 

Burglary

• A person called to report an attempted theft in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard shortly before 8:20 p.m. on July 23. A man reportedly put chocolate milk down his pants but the caller made him take it out. No arrests were made.

 

Disorderly Conduct

• A person called to report an ongoing issue of an unwanted man in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. on July 23. The caller stated the man scared the residents. No arrests were made.

 

Harassment

• A person called to report two people in an apartment in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard were screaming and throwing things, while a woman reportedly kicked out one of the windows at 7:20 p.m. on July 24. At least one person was arrested and booked for the incident.

 

Criminal Trespass

• A person called shortly before 8:35 p.m. on July 24 to report a woman in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle had been asked to leave because she is believed to be taking advantage of an elderly man. The caller also requested a welfare check on the man in the room because he has a habitat of bringing “prostitutes (and) hookers to his room in the past.” Since the man has dementia, “they would be taking advantage of him.” No arrests were made.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• A person called to report a man who was walking behind a building in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at around 6:35 a.m. on July 25 took off on a bike. No arrests were made.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 159 inmates, including 142 in the general population and 17 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 15 were reported male and two were reported female.
