Sirens: Child returned home thanks to Project Guardian; two people drinking in public asked to leave park; juvenile arrested for having prescription meds

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Drug violations

• A 58-year-old Olympia man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for possession of suspected meth and drug paraphernalia in the 1000 block of Lum Road just before 8:35 a.m. on June 6.

• A juvenile runaway who was reportedly returned home to the 1300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 10:20 p.m. on June 8 was found in possession of prescription medication and is being referred on charges of possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Galvin Road and Reynolds Avenue at approximately 8:50 a.m. on June 6.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Scheuber Road and Sunnyside Drive at approximately 1:50 p.m. on June 6.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Sixth and North Pearl streets just after 12:05 p.m. on June 7.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Two homeless men who were found drinking alcohol in public just before 3:05 p.m. on June 7 were trespassed from Washington Park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street and were issued civil infractions.

• A 35-year-old Mossyrock man was cited for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 3:50 p.m. on June 8.

 

Burglary

• A burglary of a residence in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue that was reported just before 9:05 a.m. on June 8 following an eviction is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A 41-year-old Centralia man was referred to Centralia Municipal Court on two counts of third-degree theft at 10:45 a.m. on June 8 for shoplifting beer twice from a business in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue.

• A vehicle theft was reported in the 2600 block of Eureka Avenue just after 6:50 p.m. on June 8. The suspect allegedly disconnected security cameras before taking the vehicle.

 



Vehicle prowl

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1400 block of View Avenue just after 11:15 a.m. on June 8 is under investigation.

Assault

• A juvenile was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for two counts of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 700 block of E Street just after 11 a.m. on June 8.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 50-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing at Washington Park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just after 1 p.m. on June 8.

 

Found person

• A young child was found in the roadway at the intersection of Hunt Street and Woodland Avenue just before 3 p.m. on June 8. Because the child was enrolled in the police department’s Project Guardian program — a free, voluntary program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that provides first responders with access to essential information — officers were able to quickly return the child home.

 

DUI

• A 26-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for DUI in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 2:10 a.m. on June 9.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 62 illness-related calls, 23 injury-related calls, 17 fire-related calls, three overdoses, one suicide-related call, five vehicle accidents, two rescues, one agency assist request, two Lifeline medical alerts, one medical helicopter request and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 21 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement, two booked by the Quileute Nation in La Push, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by the Tulalip Tribe.
