Attempted Burglary

• An attempted burglary reported in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard just before 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 31 is under investigation.

• An attempted burglary was reported in the 200 block of South Market Boulevard just before 8:15 p.m. on Aug. 31. A man had reportedly tried to break into a residence at about 5 p.m. that day by “slamming against the door several times.” He reportedly left “his baseball cap and a bag of chips” at the front door when he left.

 

Theft

• Just after 8 a.m. on Sept. 1, two kids' picnic benches were reported stolen from the 1300 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue sometime overnight. Each bench is valued at “a couple hundred dollars each.”

• An unidentified male suspect reportedly stole a “blue floral girl’s Jansport backpack” from the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 1.

• A juvenile reportedly stole “a weed pen” from the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 1. The caller reported “they have him held down but they are concerned about taking him home (as) he will just run away.” No arrests were made.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 31.

 

Shooting Complaint

• At 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 31, a caller in the 300 block of Southeast Adams Avenue reported hearing “what sounded like gunshots” coming from a nearby park.

 

Noise Complaint

• Just after 1 a.m. on Sept. 1, a caller in the 500 block of Southwest William Avenue asked officers to respond to a “guy running saws and banging on stuff.” The caller said “if nothing gets done about this guy, he will go over there and handle it himself.” No arrests were made.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Run

• Just before 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 31, a hit-and-run that occurred sometime overnight in the 600 block of Hunt Street was reported.

 

Graffiti

• Graffiti was reported at the intersection of South Scheuber Road and Rosewood Lane just before 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 31.

 



Trespassing

• Two disorderly subjects were trespassed from a business in the 1700 block of South Gold Street just after 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 31.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street just after 6:05 p.m. on Aug. 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree trespassing and on a Lewis County District Court warrant.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• An iPad was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Yakima Street just before 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 1. It was later found in some nearby bushes.

• Personal property was reported stolen from five unoccupied vehicles in the 2500 block of Mt. Vista Road just before 9:05 p.m. on Sept. 1.

 

Vehicle Theft

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Creekside Court at 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 1. Officers located the vehicle later the same day and returned it to its owner.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from a business in the 300 block of South Pearl Street just after • 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 1.

• Just after 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 1, a vehicle theft that occurred in the 100 block of West High Street three days prior was reported.

 

Other Theft

• Personal property, including access cards and identification, was reported stolen from the 1200 block of South Gold Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 31.

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 1900 block of South Gold Street at 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 1.

• Hanging flower baskets were reported stolen from a yard in the 700 block of South Street just before 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 1.

 

Assault

• Christopher R. Chapman, 53, of Centralia, was arrested in the 600 block of South Diamond Street just before 9:55 a.m. on Sept. 1 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged first-degree assault with a firearm. No additional information was available as of Friday morning.

• A Centralia man was cited for fourth-degree assault after he reportedly pushed a man who was walking on the sidewalk in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 1.

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 155 inmates, including 137 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 117 were reported male and 20 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 15 were reported male and three were reported female.
