CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury vehicle versus motorcycle accident was reported at the intersection of Southwest First Street and Southwest Cascade Avenue at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 17.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 18.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run reported at the intersection of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and Northwest Prindle Street at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• An attempted theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Oct. 17.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:05 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation.

• A rug and a tote full of belongings were reported stolen from the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 18.

• A subject was cited for third-degree theft for allegedly stealing a package off of a porch at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest Alfred Street at 4:05 p.m. on Oct. 18.

• A case of non-specific fraud reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:35 p.m. on Oct. 18 is under investigation.

• A vehicle prowl where the driver’s side window was broken was reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 19.

 

Attempted Break-in

• At approximately 4 p.m. on Oct. 17, a caller reported her son was trying to break into her house in the 300 block of Southwest 15th Street and was using a knife to get in the door. No arrests were made.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just after 8:45 p.m. on Oct 17 is under investigation.

 

Loud Music

• Just after 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 17, a caller at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported kids outside on the basketball court were “blasting inappropriate music” and asked law enforcement to “go by and shut it down.”

• At 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 17, a caller in the 300 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported someone across the street was loudly “blaring gangster rap” and asked law enforcement to “go by and shut it down.”

 

Peeing at Bus Stop

• A caller reported someone was peeing in the bus stop in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 6:05 a.m. on Oct. 18.

 

Trespassed From Property

• A woman who was “hitting the pharmacy window” because she was “upset over her prescription not being done” was trespassed from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:20 p.m. on Oct. 18.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A mailed parcel was reported stolen from a residential porch in the 900 block of J Street at 8:10 a.m. on Oct. 17.

• A Tacoma resident was arrested just after 1 p.m. on Oct. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting merchandise from a business in the 1400 block of Lum Road and possessing a magnet device to remove security tags. During the same incident, a Lakewood resident was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for violation of a court order and first-degree criminal impersonation after he allegedly gave officers a driver’s license that wasn’t his.

• Approximately $50 in cash was reported stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Richmond Avenue at 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 18.

• At 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 18, a suitcase was reported stolen from the 2000 block of Borst Avenue sometime within the last couple of days.

• A case of online fraud where the suspect or suspects asked the victim to cash a check and send money back was reported in the 800 block of Marion Street just before 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 18.

 

Trespassed From Property

• A woman who was found camping on private property at the intersection of West Plum Street and South Ash Street was trespassed from the property just after 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 17.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 17 after he refused to leave.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Alder Street just before 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 17 after he refused to leave.



• A man was trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Ellsbury Street at 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 18 after he sat down in the drive-thru area.

• A disorderly man was trespassed from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 5:40 p.m. on Oct. 18.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• Possible injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Johnson Road and West Reynolds Avenue just before 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 17.

• Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of West Cherry and Alder streets. One vehicle reportedly failed to stop and collided with a vehicle that had stopped to make a left turn. All people involved were medically treated at the scene and denied needing to go to the hospital.

 

Assault

• A witness reported observing a man strike a woman in a parking lot in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 17. The suspect fled in a vehicle and the victim left the area in a separate vehicle. Officers are trying to identify the suspect at this time and the case is under investigation.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1300 block of Rose Street just before 6:55 p.m. on Oct. 18 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Vandalism to heavy machinery/construction equipment was reported at the intersection of Elm Street and Marsh Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 17.

• Graffiti was reported on a telephone and power box at the intersection of Cooks Hill and Scammon Creek roads at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Oct. 18.

 

MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to a possible DUI in the 700 block of Main Avenue just after 12:35 a.m. on Oct. 8. The officer did not see the suspects driving and suggested to the driver and the passenger that they sleep where they parked. Both stated they understood.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Main Avenue to deal with a possible trespassing issue just after 9:35 a.m. on Oct. 8.

• An officer was dispatched to assist with someone who was being followed just after 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 8. The officer arrived in the 300 block of Second Street where the reporting party was supposed to be, but the reporting party was not there.

• An officer pulled over a vehicle going 30 mph in a 20-mph school zone area just after 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 9. The driver received a warning.

• An officer was asked to go to the 700 block of Main Avenue just after 8:25 a.m. on Oct. 11 to have a car towed for being parked illegally.

• While patrolling just before 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 11, an officer gave a warning for a vehicle not stopping for people in the crosswalk at the corner of Seventh Street and Main Avenue.

• An officer was dispatched to a burglary alarm in the 200 block of Main Avenue at 10:55 p.m. on Oct. 12.

• An officer was dispatched to a suspicious person near the 700 block of Division Avenue at 12:55 a.m. on Oct. 13.

• An officer dealt with a juvenile problem at Morton High School at 5 p.m. on Oct. 13.

• An officer tagged an improperly parked car in the 700 block of Main Avenue just before 9 a.m. on Oct. 14.

• An officer pulled over a vehicle going 40 mph in a 25-mph speed zone on Second Street and Main Avenue just before 10:40 a.m on Oct. 14. The driver received a citation.

• An officer pulled over a vehicle going 38 mph in a 25 mph zone just after 11:25 a.m. on Oct. 14. The driver received a citation.

• An officer was dispatched to a disorderly call in the 700 block of Main Avenue just before 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 14. The reporting party said there were people poaching while fishing. When the officer arrived, the people who were supposedly poaching were nowhere to be found.

• An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Main Avenue where the reporting party stated that “they saw juveniles smoking pot” just after 6:22 p.m. on Oct. 14. When the officer arrived, there were no children smoking pot.

• An officer was dispatched to a suspicious detail in the 700 block of Main Avenue just after 11:10 p.m. on Oct. 14. The reporting party stated they saw a man fishing after dark. When the officer arrived, the person fishing was not there.

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Fourth Street at 3:25 p.m. on Oct. 15 for a fourth-degree assault.

 

Mossyrock Incidents

• Two officers assisted with a brush fire in the 100 block of Burley Road just before 1:50 p.m. on Oct. 9.

• An officer pulled over a vehicle going 35 mph in a 25-mph zone on East State and Court streets just after 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 14. The driver received a citation.

• An assault was reported at Mossyrock Elementary School in the 400 block of William Street at 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 14.

• Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 700 block of William Street just before 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 15.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 170 inmates, including 158 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 134 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
