Sirens: ATM Theft Attempt; Stabbing a Tree; DUI Arrests; Fraud

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Fraud

• Just after 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 9, a fraudulent check was reported at a business in the 300 block of South Tower Avenue. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle Recovery

• A truck that was reported stolen out of Auburn was recovered in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 10 after it was involved in a shoplift at a local business.

 

Theft

• A Milwaukee packout box containing air conditioning equipment and tools was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 10.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 400 block of West Main Street just after 9:50 a.m. on Sept. 11 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after he allegedly stole a cellphone off of a convenience store counter.

• Just after 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 11, keys were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue sometime overnight.

• Just after 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 12, parts of a motor vehicle in the 400 block of South Tower Avenue were reported stolen sometime overnight.

• Officers responded to a burglary alarm at an ATM in the 1300 block of South Gold Street just after 6 a.m. on Sept. 12. When officers arrived, they discovered that someone attempted to gain access to the ATM’s money drawer. The case is under investigation.

 

Resisting Arrest

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue at 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant and for resisting arrest after he allegedly ran from officers attempting to arrest him on the warrant.

 

Disorderly Conduct

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on a disorderly conduct for “trying to start a fight with his neighbor.”

 

Harassment

• Harassment charges were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s office against a Centralia man who reportedly threatened medical workers at a hospital in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 9.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A vehicle struck a man, causing minor injuries, during “an apparent dispute” in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 12:10 a.m. on Sept. 10. The case is under investigation. No arrests were made.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9:55 a.m. on Sept. 11.

 

DUI

• Rafael Martinez Ledezma, 40, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just after 4:15 a.m. on Sept. 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after officers stopped him for traffic violations.

 

Assault

• A Centralia woman was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 500 block of Yew Street just after 12:20 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Malicious Mischief

• Third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence charges were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s office against a Centralia man in the 1200 block of Alder Street at 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 11.

 

Drug Violation

• A Glenoma man being booked into the Lewis County Jail on a warrant at 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 was issued additional charges for allegedly bringing “a suspected controlled substance” into the jail.

Vehicle Prowl

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Quincy Place at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Sept. 9.

• A purse containing a gun was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 11 a.m. on Sept. 9.

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 800 block of Northwest Duffy Street just before 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 11 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on Sept. 10.

• Just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 10, a second-degree theft that occurred in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on Sept. 8 was reported.

• Items were reported stolen from the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:55 a.m. on Sept. 11.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A white truck crashed into a ditch in the 2200 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 9. No injuries were reported. A citizen pulled the vehicle out of the ditch.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 9.

• A man reported a car sideswiped him, injuring his leg, while he was walking in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 11. The vehicle fled the scene.

 

Trespassing

• A woman was reportedly trespassing on train tracks at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Hampe Way at approximately 6 p.m. on Sept. 9.

• A case of trespassing reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 10 is under investigation.

• Just after 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 10, staff at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue requested a man who “(is) in the store daily and yells at customers” be trespassed from the business.

 

Stabbing a Tree

• A man was reportedly “stabbing a tree” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 10. No arrests were made.

 

Assault

• A caller reported someone hit him in the lip in the 600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 11. Officers were unable to locate the alleged assailant.

• Just before 5:10 p.m. on Sept. 10, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street reported a 14-year-old boy punched a 12-year-old girl and “poured water or juice” on her. No arrests were made.

 

Death Investigation

• A death reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 11 is under investigation.

 

Possible Overdose

• A possible overdose was reported in the 200 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Sept. 11.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 180 inmates, including 162 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 134 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 16 were reported male and two were reported female.
