Sirens: Assaults; Vicious Dog; Eluding Police

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault

• A subject was arrested in the 400 block of Northeast Adams Avenue just after 11 a.m. on March 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

Dispute 

• A domestic dispute was reported in the 200 block of Northeast Washington Avenue at approximately 3:05 a.m. on March 31. 

Suspicious Vehicle 

• Just before 1:05 p.m. on March 30, a caller reported a white van had been parked at a stop sign at the intersection of Southwest 13th Street and Southwest Wilson Avenue for the past hour with its flashers on. The caller stated they didn’t believe anyone was inside the vehicle.

Theft 

• A TV was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:20 a.m. on March 30. 

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:40 p.m. on March 30 is under investigation. 

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 30 is under investigation. 

• Two air rifles were reported stolen from the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:40 p.m. on March 31. 

• Two subjects were arrested in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on March 31 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree theft. 

• A subject was arrested in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4 p.m. on March 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly trying to steal an axe.  

Crashes

• A semi truck vs. passenger vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Arkansas Way just after 2:10 p.m. on March 30. One of the drivers was cited for improper lane usage and injuries were reported. No additional information was available from the Chehalis Police Department. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northeast Grove Street and Northeast Kresky Avenue at approximately 5:50 p.m. on March 30. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Interstate Avenue and Bishop Road at approximately 7:55 a.m. on March 31. 

• A non-injury vehicle accident was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:45 p.m. on March 31. 

Juvenile Problem 

• Just after 5:55 p.m. on March 30, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street reported a 12-year-old boy at the playground was “cussing and screaming” and was making threats to adults. The boy reportedly had a fake gun. 

Vicious Dog 



• At approximately 10:10 p.m. on March 30, a caller in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported their dog was just attacked by another dog. 

Recovered Vehicle 

• A stolen vehicle was found in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue at approximately 8:35 a.m. on March 31. 

Eluding Police 

• A subject was reportedly eluding police at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and northbound Interstate 5 just after 12:15 a.m. on April 1. No arrests were made. 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle Prowl 

• A laptop was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1300 block of Rose Street just after 8 p.m. on March 30. 

• At 4:50 p.m. on March 30, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 300 block of North Oak Street sometime overnight was reported. 

• A purse was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 900 block of L Street just before 3:10 p.m. on March 31. 

Harassment 

• A potential no contact order violation reported in the 600 block of North Gold Street at 10:35 p.m. on March 31 is under investigation. The victim reported the suspect was sending her threatening messages. 

Shoplifting 

• A Napavine man was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on March 30. 

  Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2:20 p.m. on March 31. 

  A Tacoma man was cited for shoplifting at 5:05 p.m. on March 31 after he allegedly stole a pair of shoes from a store in the 1400 block of Lum Road. Police located him in another store a short time later. 

Assault 

• Police were called just after 9:05 a.m. on March 30 to respond to a report of a disorderly subject “attempting to assault staff and patrons” at a coffee shop in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. When officers arrived, the man, identified as Stephen A. Sparks, 45, of Lakewood, allegedly “spit in an officer’s face and threatened to blow (the) officer’s brains out.” Sparks was arrested and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged third-degree assault and harassment, threat to kill. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS 

 As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 159 inmates, including 138 in the general population and 21 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 18 were reported male and three were reported female.
