Sirens: Assault charge referred after middle school fight; Citation issued for 'excessively honking her horn in a residential area'; Vehicle burned

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disorderly conduct

• A homeless man from Tacoma and a homeless woman from Centralia were contacted by police after “they were observed acting suspiciously in a vehicle,” according to the Centralia Police Department, which stated “the consumption of drugs was suspected.”

• A homeless man was reportedly walking in traffic in the 700 block of South Gold Street just after 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 23. He left the area before officers arrived.

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “doing illegal drugs” in a vehicle in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 23. The subject left before officers arrived.

 

Malicious mischief

• A vehicle was reportedly egged in the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue just after 8:10 p.m. on Feb. 23.

 

Drug violation

• A juvenile male reportedly had “a marijuana vape” at Centralia Middle School in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 23. He was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.

 

Criminal trespass

• Two subjects were trespassed from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 10:25 a.m. on Feb. 23 “due to their propensity for stealing.”

• A homeless man was reportedly “setting up camp” and “generally making a mess” in a store’s dumpster in the 1100 block of View Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on Feb. 23.

 

Assault

• A juvenile female was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for possible fourth-degree assault charges after she allegedly “started a fight with another student” at Centralia Middle School in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 23.

• A 32-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 1800 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Feb. 23 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

Dispute

• A homeless male was reportedly “screaming at” a homeless woman in the 200 block of East Locust Street at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Feb. 23.

 

Noise complaint

• A woman was issued a noise citation for “excessively honking her horn in a residential area” in the 1200 block of Alder Street just before 2:35 a.m. on Feb. 24.

 

Burglary

• A burglary to a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue that was reported just after 12:05 p.m. on Feb. 24 is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A possible intoxicated driver was reported in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 24. An officer located the vehicle and contacted the driver. The officer determined the driver was not under the influence.

 

Theft

  A theft was reported at a business in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 25. An officer located a female suspect, but the business chose not to pursue charges.

 

Fire

• Officers were dispatched to a vehicle fire in front of a residence in the 600 block of South Diamond Street at approximately 1:05 a.m. on Feb. 25. The fire was extinguished by the Riverside Fire Authority before officers arrived and “officers learned that the involved vehicle was completely destroyed by a previous fire, and was set on fire again for an unknown reason,” according to the Centralia Police Department. This case is currently under investigation.

 

Camping

• An officer contacted people camping in a vehicle in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:35 a.m. on Feb. 25. The officer gave the subjects with local resource information and gave them a verbal warning for camping within city limits.

 



CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• A third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 8:10 a.m. on Feb. 23 is under investigation.

• A third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 1200 block Southwest Pacific Avenue at 8:25 a.m. on Feb. 25 is under investigation.

• A female subject was arrested in the 1500 block of North National Avenue for allegedly breaking a vehicle’s gas cap just after 5:10 p.m. on Feb. 25. Medical aid was dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. after a Taser was deployed.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 23.

 

Harassment

• A case of harassment reported in the 200 block of Southwest Riverside Drive at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Feb. 23 is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A male subject who attempted to steal football cards from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1 p.m. on Feb. 23 was trespassed from the business.

• A homeless person was reportedly sitting on a doorstep in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway just before 8:35 p.m. on Feb. 23.

• A man in “bright white overalls with a big can of beer” was reportedly “pissing” on a business’ property in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 23. He was trespassed from the business.

• A woman reportedly set up camp on private property in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 10 a.m. on Feb. 25.

 

Theft

• A male subject reportedly shoplifted from a business in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 23.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A group of people were reportedly “going door to door saying they’re from Xfinity” in the 10 block of Southwest William Avenue just before 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 23. The reporting party said they called Xfinity and confirmed they didn’t have anyone in the area.

• A resident in the 1600 block of Southwest Snively Avenue reported a possible burglary at 8 p.m. on Feb. 23. The resident reported they got home and their door was “wide open.” An officer confirmed there were no signs of forced entry and nothing had been stolen from the residence.

• A subject was reportedly “walking around with a rifle (and) shooting at random stuff” at the intersection of Southwest Pacific Avenue and Southwest Eighth Street at approximately 9:25 a.m. on Feb. 24.

• At 2:35 p.m. on Feb. 24, a caller reported a subject inside a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was possibly “taking pictures and watching the reporting party and her grandkids.”

 

Scams

• Just after 8:10 p.m. on Feb. 23, a caller reported she applied to rent a house in the 100 block of Southeast Third Street and later found out it was a scam. The caller reportedly gave the scammer “her social security number and all her info” before she learned it was a scam.

• A scam reported in the 1200 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Feb. 25 is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A woman was reportedly “very high” inside a business in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 24. The caller reported he “came in for a haircut and the woman was smoking something in a pipe then came in and hacked his hair,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A male subject was reportedly acting disorderly at a store in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 24.

• A disorderly male subject was reportedly “sitting at the business’ window, acting odd” in the 100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 4:40 p.m. on Feb. 25.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 175 inmates, including 161 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 134 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.
