Sirens: $2,000 in damage to hospital door; Juvenile attack mother with knife; $600 in counterfeit money found

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A 40-year-old homeless person from Rochester was cited for trespassing in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Feb. 7.

• A 30-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 1600 block of Johnson Road just before 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass.

 

Malicious mischief

• Just after 10:35 a.m. on Feb. 7, there was a report that unidentified suspects had spray painted graffiti on the new playground in the 300 block of Lowe Street. 

• A 25-year-old Longview man is being referred on second-degree malicious mischief charges after he allegedly did more than $2,000 in damage to a door at a hospital in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road before officers restrained him. The incident was reported just after 1:05 p.m. on Feb. 7. Chehalis officers had to remove the man from a behavioral health facility earlier that day.

 

Property damage

• A semi-truck reportedly damaged electrical wires in the 900 block of South Yew Street just before 3:55 p.m. on Feb. 8. The case is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A rental car company in the 500 block of East Summa Street reported the theft of a license plate just before 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 7.

• A woodworking tool was reported stolen from the 700 block of E Street just after 4:05 p.m. on Feb. 7.

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 2:05 p.m. on Feb. 8. The case is under investigation.

 

Counterfeiting

• A business in the 400 block of East Summa Street reported receiving $600 in counterfeit $100 bills at 6:55 p.m. on Feb. 7. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of North Pearl Street at 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 7.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A 30-year-old homeless woman from Centralia was warned for trying to stop traffic at the intersection of Johnson Road and Reynolds Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 7. The woman “told officers the intersection should be a four-way stop.”

• A disorderly homeless woman was reportedly “yelling, screaming and refusing to leave” a shelter in the 100 block of North Gold Street just before 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 8. She left before officers arrived.

 

Intimidating a public servant

• A 58-year-old Olympia man was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 8:05 p.m. on Feb. 7 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for intimidating a public servant. Officers contacted the man for trespassing before the man allegedly “clenched his fists and came towards an officer aggressively in a fighting manner,” according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers on the scene “were able to take control of (the man) to prevent an assault from occurring.”

 

Drug violation

• A 23-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 8 on two outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrants and for possession of suspected fentanyl.

 

Assault

• A juvenile reportedly attempted to stab his mother with a knife in the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road just before 8:50 p.m. on Feb. 8. The mother protected herself with a pan, avoiding injury. The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center. 

 

DUI

• A 55-year-old Centralia man was arrested at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and Floral Street at 1:50 a.m. on Feb. 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI.

 



CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Contraband

• Officers picked up two contraband cellphones from Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 7.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly male subject was reportedly “on the railroad tracks” with his “pants down” in the 100 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on Feb. 7.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault that occurred at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street in December was reported just after 4:25 p.m. on Feb. 7.

• A physical dispute between roommates over a thermostat was reported in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 4:40 a.m. on Feb. 8.

 

Juvenile problem

• Three juveniles around the age of 13 were reportedly walking around with a bottle of alcohol in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 7.

 

Drug violation

• A subject was cited for a narcotics violation in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 7.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A pedestrian was airlifted to Providence Centralia Hospital for medical care after they were possibly hit by a semi truck at the Exit 76 offramp just after 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 7. The reporting party in the semi stated there was “a subject behind a car” who “ran and hit the reporting party’s trailer.”

• A non-injury vehicle accident was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 8.

 

Criminal trespass

• Subjects were reportedly trespassing on railroad tracks behind Grant’s Towing in the 100 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 8. The reporting party said it was an ongoing issue. The reporting party called 911 an hour after the initial call “very upset” and saying they “‘want to know the game plan’ regarding the subjects camped out behind Grant’s Towing.”

• Two subjects were reportedly digging through the garbage in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 12:50 p.m. on Feb. 8.

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• A male subject was reportedly selling gold jewelry in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 8.

• At 6:10 p.m. on Feb. 8, a caller reported the driver and passenger of a U-Haul kept stopping and switching places in the vehicle. “They keep getting in and out and switching drivers,” the caller reported.

 

Scam

• At 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 8, a caller in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported her Facebook account had been hacked. An officer interviewed the caller and determined “she gave her Facebook information to someone and now she can no longer get into Facebook or Instagram.” She has gone through the steps to get her account back. No crime had occurred.

 

Harassment

• A caller in the 1300 block of Southwest William Avenue reported he was being stalked on his phone at 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 8. Officers determined it was a “combination of mental health and soliciting/catfishing.”

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 131 inmates, including 118 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 96 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
