Signs up, hiring now: Washington’s first In-N-Out Burger is opening soon

Sometime in July is the likely time frame for In-N-Out Burger to open its Ridgefield doors as the first location in the Evergreen State.

The words are now visible from Interstate 5 for In-N-Out Burger as signage has been applied to the building surrounded by a massive landscape plan that happens to feature the iconic cross palm trees. Employment opportunities are also now available on the burger chain’s website.

The first Washington location, at 5801 Pioneer Canyon Drive, is deep into construction. Steve Mathis, a Facebook community forum administrator and avid fan of In-N-Out Burger, previously has noted that In-N-Out does not announce its grand opening dates until a few days ahead of time.

With no real way of knowing the grand opening date, Mike Abbate, vice president of store development for In-N-Out Burger, stated in March 2024 that it takes eight to nine months to build the restaurant and open for business.

The location has begun accepting applications for employment with wages starting at $18.75 per hour with the possibility of earning up to $23 per hour.

“In preparation of the new store opening, we are going to begin interviewing and hiring for all positions,” Yathsiri Vasquez stated in a Facebook post on the In-N-Out Ridgefield Facebook group.

The first true sign of the location popped up in a Facebook post on Feb. 29, 2024, showing the burger chain’s logo on a transportation infrastructure project announcement for the Pioneer Street corridor from I-5 to Royle Road. The application was received by the city of Ridgefield on Feb. 16, 2024.

The restaurant’s design includes a covered patio, 76 parking spots and a drive-thru able to handle 46 vehicles. The Ridgefield restaurant comes to Washington without following the Southern California store’s prototypical design. The Ridgefield design is fitting the desires of Ridgefield’s city code with multiple changes being made by In-N-Out Burger. The stucco siding is in a sandcastle earth tone in contrast to the bright and prototypical bone China white color. There will be no LED light bands, as that goes against Ridgefield code. The roofing material is a darker clay than normal, and there are also exposed wood beams under the roofing material.

With other locations planned in the Portland metro area, an In-N-Out “Here Soon” sign has appeared at the construction site in Vancouver at the intersection of Mill Plain Boulevard and Southeast 136th Avenue.
