A short-handed Centralia girls golf team competed well on Monday, but the Tigers lost to Aberdeen 80-54.

Due to some injuries, the Tigers had just three golfers: Corin Meek, Melissa Baine, and Madison Hardy.

Meek led the way, posting a match-high 34 points.

“She played well,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “It was a positive day for her. She was happy that she hit the ball pretty well. We're hoping that she’s peaking at the right time here.”

Baine added 11 points, and Hardy finished with nine.

Aberdeen was led by Sveva Totaro, who scored 24 points, and Avery Yakovich, who scored 23. Ryan Spencer added 20, Nereida Cruz tallied nine, and Alyssa Caskey rounded out the scorecard with four.

The Tigers have one more regular season match on the docket. They are set to face W.F. West at Newaukum Valley on Wednesday, but Gronseth said that that match will likely be pushed to next week.

After that, it’ll be the District 4 Tournament, which is set to begin on Tuesday, May 12 at Riverside.

“We just hope we can get everybody back and ready to go,” Gronseth said.
