The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an Onalaska man whose body was found inside a burning vehicle in the 800 block of Larmon Road in the early hours of Jan. 22.

The coroner’s office has since identified the man as 26-year-old Ostynn R. Farrier.

The cause and manner of Farrier’s death is still pending, though Coroner Warren McCleod stated he suspects Farrier died of thermal injury and inhalation of combusted materials.

The sheriff’s office was initially called at 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 22 to respond to a fully engulfed vehicle fire, according to Field Operations Bureau Chief Dusty Breen with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office,. While deputies were working to put out the fire, Farrier’s body was discovered inside.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, the sheriff’s office will not release further details at this time, said Breen.

Farrier’s final arrangements are under the care of Cattermole Funeral Home.
