Sheriff’s Office: For Second Time This Year, Human Remains Located in Winlock Area

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the discovery of human remains in the Winlock area Thursday evening. 

According to a news release, at approximately 4:35 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a report of a private property owner discovering human remains on their property in the 800 block of King Road.

Sheriff’s Office personnel, along with the Lewis County Coroner’s Office, are still investigating the cause and manner of death, as well as working toward positive identification of the deceased. 

Further details on identity of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death, will be provided by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office when available, according to the news release.

This is the second set of human remains reported near Winlock this year. 

In March, human remains were discovered on timber property near Raubuck Road in the Winlock. As of March 16, the remains were at the King County Medical Examiners Office being examined by a forensic anthropologist, who can determine the decedent’s age, sex, height and other physical descriptors; but no information regarding the decedent’s identity or cause of death has been released.
