Bail is set at a total of $600,000 for a sex offender accused of failing to register and soliciting a minor for sex in the Napavine area.
Daniel Stephen Gloyd, 54, had been wanted on failure to register allegations since Oct. 30 before he was arrested on Dec. 17, according to court documents and jail records.
There are two convictions on Gloyd’s record that require him to register as a sex offender — one out of Clark County Juvenile Court for three counts of first-degree statutory rape in 1986, and one out of Clark County Superior Court for one count of third-degree rape in 1993. He also has out-of-state attempted kidnapping, theft, possession of a weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle convictions on his record.
Court records indicate that Gloyd registered in Lewis County on Jan. 28, 2020, after moving to a Napavine address from Cowlitz County.
Law enforcement personnel last verified Gloyd’s address on June 29, 2025, according to court records.
On Oct. 21, Gloyd became a suspect in a separate investigation into a report of potential sexual misconduct.
In that case, Gloyd is accused of offering to pay a child under the age of 16 for sexual services between January 2024 and October 2025.
The Chronicle is not releasing details about the allegations in order to protect the identity of the victim.
During the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation into the alleged sexual misconduct, investigators reportedly learned that Gloyd had taken items from his registered address and fled to Idaho.
Deputies confirmed Oct. 23 that he was no longer living at his verified address. A detective at the Lewiston Police Department in Idaho reportedly contacted a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Oct. 29 to inform them that Gloyd’s vehicle had been found abandoned at a business in Lewiston. He was reportedly seen leaving the vehicle on foot at about 11 p.m. on Oct. 27, according to court documents.
Gloyd was charged in Lewis County Superior Court with one count of failure to register on Oct. 30, and a $100,000 arrest warrant was issued.
Five charges, including attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor, stemming from the sexual misconduct allegations were filed against Gloyd in Lewis County Superior Court on Nov. 7. A $500,000 arrest warrant was issued that same day.
Attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Of the other four charges, three are class C felonies punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and one is a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in prison.
Gloyd was booked into the Lewis County Jail on Dec. 17 and had his preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court the next day.
A judge ruled Thursday to uphold the bail amount set in Gloyd’s arrest warrants — $500,000 for the sexual misconduct case and $100,000 for the failure to register case. Gloyd has to post both bail amounts, a total of $600,000, to be released before his cases are resolved.
Arraignment hearings are scheduled for Dec. 24.
