In a wild back-and-forth C2BL game between Onalaska and Rainier, a four-run top of the seventh ended up as the difference in the Loggers’ 11-10 triumph over the Mountaineers on Friday afternoon in Rainier.
Down by three and staring at a deficit, Onalaska (3-4, 3-4 C2BL) did all of its damage with two outs. Cooper Lawrence was drilled by a pitch from Rainier relief pitcher Dayton Gardner to load the bases. Desean Stewart lined a run-scoring single to make it 10-8, then a walk and back-to-back hit by pitches put Onalaska in front.
Stewart set down Rainier in order to secure the win. The Loggers responded down 6-3 with a four-run fourth. The heart of their order – Lawrence, Stewart and Broden Vickers – combined for six of their nine hits and crossed home plate seven times.
Rainier (2-8, 2-8) broke a 7-7 tie with a three-run sixth on an RBI single from Gardner and two straight unearned runs. Peyton Sheaffer and Hunter Howell scored twice with the latter notching three stolen bases.
Onalaska will travel to take on Fort Vancouver in a non-league doubleheader on April 14 while Rainier battles Toledo on April 16.
