Authorities say a Sunday car accident that blocked Interstate 5 near Castle Rock for hours, also injured a New York state resident driving a semi.

Mahakdeep Singh, 25, of Queens, is suspected of negligent driving after the one-vehicle accident south of exit 49, according to a Washington Patrol press memo.

Singh was headed north when he lost control of the semi and struck a guard rail at about 6:50 a.m., blocking all three lanes.

Washington State Department of Transportation also reported at 7:25 a.m. the lanes, near Powell Road, were completely blocked. The department reported the lanes reopened as of about 5:10 p.m.

Singh wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was injured and sent to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, the press memo states.
