The Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area will host their annual Autumn Work Party at Centralia’s hillside forest from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6, rain or shine.

All are invited to attend, according to a news release from the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area. Free coffee, cookies and post-work sandwiches will be available for all who attend.

Attendees are urged to wear sturdy footwear, thick gloves and clothes suitable for outdoor work. The friends group will have some tools and gloves available, but volunteers are invited to bring their own tools as well, particularly loppers, shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows, the release stated.

A variety of guided projects will be available for workers of all ages, skills and energy levels. This work party will focus on trail maintenance for the Indian Pipe trail, the new Mobility Friendly trail and the Planting Area by the Arroyo.

All who volunteer their time with the friends are greatly appreciated, as it helps keep the Seminary Hill Natural Area beautiful and enjoyable for everyone who stops by, according to the release.

“If you’re looking to give back to nature and your community, this is a perfect opportunity,” Outreach Coordinator Cindy Garibay said.
