The death of a Kent health clinic security guard who died after an altercation in January was found to be homicide.

Samson Muhammed, 62, of Tacoma, died May 12 of complications of blunt force head trauma he suffered Jan. 9 at a HealthPoint clinic in Kent, according to the King County medical examiner's office.

Muhammed was allegedly pushed to the sidewalk twice by someone visiting the clinic and hit his head on the pavement, said Jarod Kasner, an assistant chief at the Kent Police Department.

All parties have been identified, and Kent police are working with the King County prosecutor's office to gather an account of the circumstances, said Matt Stansfield, deputy chief at the Kent Police Department.

It is not yet clear if charges will be filed against the person accused of pushing him.

Muhammed died in Tacoma, four months after the altercation. He was hospitalized the entire time, according to the sheriff's office.

There were no witnesses, and the altercation occurred outside the range of security cameras, according to Lisa Yohalem, the CEO of HealthPoint.

HealthPoint is a community-based nonprofit that prioritizes evidence-based care to all who need it, according to its website. The facility, at 403 E. Meeker St., is one of 20 locations across King County.
