King County officials Wednesday identified 18-year-old Tyjon Stewart as the second teen killed last week in a shooting at a bus stop in Rainier Valley.
Stewart’s death was a homicide, and he died from a gunshot wound, according to the King County medical examiner’s office.
The other teenager killed in the shooting, Traveiah Houfmuse, 17, was identified Tuesday. The medical examiner’s office also classified Houfmuse’s death as a homicide and determined he died from gunshot wounds.
Both were students at Rainier Beach High School, according to an email sent by the school’s principal to families on Friday night.
Rainier Beach and three other nearby schools had a delayed start Monday; after school, students, staff and community members, including the district’s new superintendent, Ben Shuldiner, and Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, gathered to honor the students at the bus stop. All schools resumed regular schedules Tuesday.
The Seattle Police Department has asked anyone with information to contact the department’s tip line at 206-233-5000.
