Seafair 2025: The Blue Angels are back. Here’s when to watch them

Posted

If you haven't missed the roaring of the jets, get ready for it — Seafair weekend is upon us.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are set to perform their tricks at up to 700 mph over Lake Washington in their F/A-18 Super Hornet jets throughout the Seafair Weekend Festival.

The Blue Angels have flown during Seafair for decades, even as some have opposed the summer staple, saying it has negative health and environmental impacts.

The Blue Angels festivities start Thursday with Brunch and the Blues with the opportunity to see the first Blue Angels take off. The Blue Angels will perform two practice runs on Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3:30 to 4:40 p.m.

The Blue Angels will then commence their performance at 3:35 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the festival's Boeing Seafair Air Show.

Other planes like a PBY-5A Catalina and the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B will take off throughout the weekend’s festivities.

The Seafair Weekend Festival at Genesee Park Friday that goes through Sunday, will also feature hydroplanes racing along the shores of Lake Washington and performances from military bands.

General admission to the festival is free on Friday, but costs $20 to $100 on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is first-come, first-serve, but people can take the Link light rail and get off at the Columbia City station. There's a free round-trip shuttle service from the station to the park Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Interstate 90 floating bridge will remain open, and pedestrians and bicyclists are asked not to stop or stand on the bridge trail. While the bridge used to close to traffic when the Blue Angels performed, it’s been open during the show since 2017, said James Poling, a spokesperson with the Washington State Department of Transportation.

You can also get views of the Blue Angels’ takeoffs and landings at the Museum of Flight's main parking lot along Boeing Field’s fence line.

The jets are set to take off right in front of the museum, and access on Friday is free. Viewing on Saturday and Sunday requires museum admission. Visitors can bring blankets or low-back folding chairs.
