Four people were injured Friday night in a collision between a school bus and a car on northbound Interstate 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Both drivers were hurt, as well as two passengers on the bus. The bus was transporting 16 people, most of them teens, ages 14-18, the state patrol memo reads.
Just before midnight Friday, the bus was headed north on I-5 in Lewis County. A 22-year-old Lewis County man, driving a 2022 Ford Mustang, was headed in the same direction.
Troopers say the 22-year-old driver attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control and then crashed into the bus. Both he and the bus driver then crashed into the freeway median, according to state patrol.
The cause of the collision was “speeds too fast for conditions.”
The 22-year-old man and a 54-year-old Monroe woman driving the bus were injured and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the State Patrol.
Two passengers also were hurt: A 49-year-old man from Texas and a 15-year-old boy from Snohomish. They, too, were taken to Providence Centralia Hospital.
