The Salvation Army of Lewis County is organizing a “Feed The Need” food drive at the Chehalis Walmart starting Nov. 1 to support its Hope Market in Centralia.

In collaboration with the Chehalis Walmart, The Salvation Army will collect food at the local Walmart location from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Salvation Army staff and vehicles will be available on site to collect food donations and answer any questions.

According to an announcement for the event from Salvation Army Captain Gin Pack, the local food drive will collect food for the nonprofit’s food bank located on North Gold Street in Centralia.

Pack said the food bank, also referred to as Hope Market, “has experienced great need” to address hunger in the community.

The “Feed the Need” food drive also comes as the nonprofit is looking to gear up for the holiday season with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner.

Pack said Hope Market is looking for additional support in the form of food donations ahead of the holiday season.

“We are deeply grateful for this opportunity and support as we head into the holiday season,” Pack said.

The Hope Market is open and operating from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
