Ryderwood House Seriously Damaged in Early Morning Fire

A house was severely damaged in Ryderwood early Wednesday morning, and the cause is still under investigation.

No of the residents were injured, but one bystander at the scene sustained minor injuries after sustaining a fall.

According to a press release from Cowlitz-Lewis County Fire Protection District 20, firefighters got to the scene, located in the 100 block of Monroe Street in Ryderwood, at 3:37 a.m. Wednesday.

The first engine on the scene reported a detached garage was fully engulfed in flames, which were extending to the residence through a breezeway. The fire was threatening houses on either side of the burning residence.

Firefighters kept the fire from spreading, and tried to save as much personal property from the house as possible, according to the press release.

The occupants of the house were able to get out without injury.

The garage was completely destroyed and the house was seriously damaged.

Crews from Lewis County Fire Districts 15, 2 and 5 and Cowlitz County Fire Districts 6 and 3 responded to the scene, as well as fire investigators from Cowlitz County Fire District 2.
