Ruth A. Taylor, 92, a long time Lewis County resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Oct. 5, 2013 in Centralia.

Ruth was born Sept. 19, 1921 in Blackwell, Okla., to Edward I. and Minnie A. (Claybaker) McKnight. Ruth grew up traveling across the West and Midwest following her father’s career as an oil field worker. They ended up settling in Doty where Ruth graduated from Pe Ell High School in 1939. She married Walter J. Taylor on Aug. 15, 1939 and they settled in Doty to raise their five children. Ruth worked for many years as the secretary for Pe Ell School District, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed her family, trips to Reno, and reading.

Ruth is survived by her children, Ginger (Jamie) Carey, Centralia, Sharleen Freeman, Seattle, Carol Barrett, Rochester, Edward, Centralia; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, Tom; sister, Nancy; son-in-laws, Wally Barrett and Nick Freeman; and great-granddaughter, Brittany Blevins.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Doty-Dryad Cemetery.
