ROOTED in Lewis County celebrated during a grand opening for the its new location in Centralia on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Founded in 2022 as the Dignity Guild, the organization has faced early challenges but remains firmly committed to its original mission: championing social justice issues impacting marginalized communities, according to a news release prior to the event.
Rebranded as ROOTED in Lewis County, the organization is embracing a new identity while expanding its outreach, strengthening community partnerships, and placing education at the heart of its programs, according to the release.
“Our goal is to promote cultural awareness in the county and bring people together so everyone feels a sense of belonging in the community,” Board President Michael Blessing said in the news release.
It’s located at 113 West Maple St. in Centralia.
Recent initiatives include supporting Juneteenth celebrations, co-hosting a Twin Cities Pride event in July, and launching an essay writing contest during Founders Day.
ROOTED is currently inviting applications for two open board positions specifically for individuals residing in eastern and western Lewis County as well as a student representative position on the board.
"If you are passionate about community engagement and interested in helping educate the people of Lewis County about the importance and impact of our work, we would love to hear from you," ROOTED stated in an email.
