Rochester’s Southard claims top-15 finish at state tournament

Rochester’s Natalie Southard capped her high school career with an impressive showing at the State Bowling Championships on Monday, tallying 961 pins across six games to finish tied for 15th among all 1A and 2A bowlers.

Southard’s best games came in Games 2 and 3, where she scored 178 and 196, respectively. Her Rochester teammate Lilly Richter finished with 840, including a high of 151, and she placed 32.

W.F. West had three bowlers compete, including Allie Smitherman, who finished with 955 to finish 18th. Smitherman’s best game was in Game 4, where she rolled a 203, one of just 10 200-plus games across the competition.



Sable Bunker finished with 860 pins, including two games at 156, to finish 26th, and Mackenzie Zuber posted a high of 188 en route to 835 total pins and a 36th-place finish.

Centralia’s Lily Guerrero was the Tigers’ lone representative, and she scored 862 pins, including a high of 156, to round out the top 25 bowlers.
